About my design
by classicoke
back in the day art, science and people were connected via world fairs. a world fair on a different planet would be exciting and yet the same... but will the internet still be around a thousand years from now?

i like the connection people through the evolution of time.]

   classicoke on Aug 09 '07
yes, well... yes..thats sort of what its about. anyways, i didnt know "connect" was emails or messaging. this was the first thing i thought about when i heard about the theme. maybe cause ive been think about doing an art deco illustration for sometime but just havent gotten around to it. but did it have to have something to do about gmail and their products? have i failed?

hehe thanks but you shouldnt have to. theres alot of detail but i still made so that it should look its best at a distance, the place from which you spot tees =)

great art, I believe that you have spelled Millennium with an "e" and only one "n" the shirt.

I usually don't like the fake ads/posters/whatever but this is awesome. I love the art deco vibe this is giving off. And I especially love the green tone and the sepia tone versions.

spelling issues, but awesome
do you have a high-res version?

pairoffairies on Aug 09 '07
I really like your design and the way it connects to the theme. I agree with a previous poster who indicated that the word "Millennium" seems to be spelled wrong. I recommend also spell checking the smaller print (unreadable in the given images).

I love this design SO SO much. I will buy it, on one condition.

PLEASE fix the spelling.

Yeah, aside from the spelling (an easy thing to fix, Threadless routinely does this with printed designs) it's ace!

ok so the spelling error has been changed. however im probably still lame and retarded =(

anyways, follow the link here to see the bottom text, close up.

also, thanks for all the comments and positive feedback. seems people are getting what i wanted to convey with this design! sweetness!

I'd like it better if the design was on the back of the shirt, too busy for me to be on the front.

I think if you went a little further away from cyan and closer to slate-blue on the blue one you'd have it nailed. I really like this. It looks like a genuine souvenir tshirt and that makes the whole thing cooler

Best Sub I've seen in over a month. I absolutely love it, I don't care that it's busy. $5 and I really don't give many of those. Brown on white ( bottom left) please. Has to be a winner..........

I love the illustration and design, however the "WORLDS FAIR" type doesn't really go with it. It has to much of a cowboy / wild west vibe. Actually, it mostly just the R's. Just for the record the bottom left is my favorite.

Most free fonts are free for a reason. Also, most free fonts are only free for personal use. If they get used for anything commercial then you have to talk with the original designer to get permission. Considering that the headline is the only thing that needs to be distinct, I see no reason that you couldn't design the type yourself. There's only 9 letters and an apostrophe. Maybe it should have been "Worlds' Fair."

The illustration and concept are interesting, I just don't think it works very well on a tee. I also think your typography needs a great deal of work. I do like several of the color choices as well.

Unbelievable, I love this! I agree with blackunicorn that slate-blue print on the blue shirt would be perfect. I'd buy that for sure.

I'm also glad you posted a link to the bottom text. The text is fantastic, very clever, fun to read, and it just enhances the design to read it.

the metropolisness was unintentional at first. it just sorta happened when i sketched something that was art deco and futuristic. when started to "ink" i instantly knew that was the style i wanted.

im glad someone noticed the bottom text and liked it! however im thinking about changing "nikola tesla" to "hari seldon". its just more clever and obscure.. you know? =)

i am thinking about reworking the design a little and resubbing. i know and yes, i hate that too but perhaps the top text needs work...hmm.

thoughts?

Hey Coke i think you are maybe just a little short of the magic 2.5 to get this printed which I find pretty soul destroying. if they don't print and you eventually print it somewhere else , can you let me know on this blog? I'll check it out from to time to time. That goes for any of your other designs as well. Cheers !
