Haha. I like this one a lot more than the other cat on toast antigravity devices. I just recommend changing the positioning of it. Make the image bigger on the shirt and move the focus of the image toward the center. Right now the image itself is pretty centered, but the focus is a little off and that makes the whole thing a little awkward.

Yeah, the model shirt is tilted a wee bit. To clarify though, the graphic placement is centered squarely on the chest.

You see, toast always lands butter-side down. At the same time a cat always lands on it's feet. And with the two together, thus we have the mystery! :D

How is the toast attached to the cat? It doesn't seems like the belt wraps around it.

This is like the 5th version of this in a month. It's the best, but i don't dig that it's all humor copied from random emails.

Now are the upward hairs supposed to indicate that the cat is currently in some kind of free fall? I don't care if the idea is unoriginal, I like the simple, clean lines of this design.
murgles
murgles on Jul 27 '07
Ive seen this idea before but given it a zero for lameness, but yours is SOOOO much better! I give it a $5, especially on the green toned shirt.

Of course the hairs show freefall, its a falling cat. His whiskers arent up, but its prolly freaking out so much they went stiff. ;)

ChaosbyDesign on Jul 27 '07
I think the cat will win then it will freak out about the toast strapped to its back and run into a wall. good artwork.
alphabetapi
alphabetapi on Jul 27 '07
it would actually create a perpetual spin. if you could harness that energy, we could run entire cities on the power of spinning cats and toast!
JavaPuma
JavaPuma on Jul 27 '07
In my house, the toast lands butter side up, but the cats usually get to it before we can, and lick it off ! :)

Ok, I did not get it but I love the image and find it funny just because of the absurdity, then I read the explanation and it's even funnier 5$

why should this be so much better than the ones before...? It's just a cat with a toast strapped onto its back! I liked this one much better, at least it had some character:

i never saw this concept before, but its extremely clever.

I got this straightaway. I love the idea, and the simple lines make it desirable as a t-shirt.

I second enlarging the image and centering it, it looks too small on the sample tee. The green background looks the best.

$5!

Wonderful execution. Your illustration style is what makes it different, because its very "retro textbook" in a way. I'd buy this one.

wait. so you tape the cat to the toast, the toast pops out of the toaster, and the cat flies?

what??
Blind.[mikey]
Blind.[mikey] on Jul 31 '07
See my explanation above.
Johnny the homicidal maniac
Wouldn't the cat have to be upside down?
KiniArt
KiniArt on Jul 31 '07
No Johnny because the butter turns the cat and then the cat turns the butter (same as if two cats where belted back-to-back - It works as long as the "landing" side is on the open side)

This joke has been around long enough to definately be public domain. Stealing isnt possible. I think you have captured it in the best way :)
Johnny the homicidal maniac
well thank you for clearing that up for me Kiniart. But with how you explained it the cat/buttered bread would just stay in the same place and if the cat was upside down it would go up which I think is muck more entertaining. It's still a kick ass design. I would buy it in a heartbeat!!!

have you read this alan mooreīs comic??from his collection of americaīs comic!!it is about a boy who is always experimenting on everything!!one of his funniest experiments was exactly this one, i love it!!! the image should be bigger, it would be a shame not to exploit it!! donīt listen to the ones who say itīs not original!!ideas must flow, originality never really existed!!every idea comes from somewhere else!!!iīm so sure i would buy this tee!!!can i score 6 for this one??fantastic!!!

Interesting that the guy that called you a "thief" is Sooo rightious that he had to do so with a brand-spankin new ID and NO real name or profile.

If he truly believed what he said (and wasn't just being a jerk) he'd have backed it up with his real ID.
