dayofthelocust

AAARGH! OOOP! BLAARRGHH! Gimme dat shirt.

viralVISUAL

Personally I think you should stray away from the bottom shirt placement. Detracts from the awesomeness.

deforgeo

yes

righteous

exoticrobotic

you have a great style dude! keep at it $5

Myxxoma

Seriously I would buy so many shirts of your design if they were soft prints. The huge designs are so fly.

Bowtie

not to my liking, but it looks like you got some fans.

noponies

madness. love it! $5

_lydia

LOVE this $5

13strong

I kinda like this - don't like the placement or the T colour though.

mrwalrusface

i need more shirts with chest hair included in the artwork

anonhath

NGAZIN - you are my hero - OMG you are so good - if you want me to prove my love for you and your amazing skills, I would gladly preform fellatio on your amazingly rock and roll cock

I'm going to come in your eyes and blind you with the light just as the cops come to drag me away because it appears that you may very well be fourteen. Are you fourteen?

Magen

0.97? What the hell? Damn it, I would have worn it.

13strong

I'm starting to suspect that you should try subbing elsewhere, NGAZIN, unless you're willing to change your style even more to suit the audience here (and I'm not saying that you shouldn't).

Plus, you're not taking criticism all that well, which isn't gonna win you any more fans.

Good luck though, man, and let us know if you do decide to submit somewhere else - I'm sure plenty of people will want to support you.

13strong:
You seem to consider what I'm doing and comment on all my designs so I'm going to reply to you honestly and respectfully instead of dismissing your comment or telling you to go fuck yourself in some creative way.

Why would I try to please people who I don't know who don't like what I do? And why should I entertain the opinions of people who are unqualified to offer professional opinions? So far I've recieved only posiive feedback from people from the designers on this site who make shirts that I like.

Am I not allowed to disagree with people i they something that's ignorant, ill-informed or wrong? Is telling people to fuck off not okay if I feel like it?

My final question, and I would appreciate an answer, is: Who are you to offer me advice? What qualifies you to tell me your opinion?

13strong

When you ask those last two questions, do you mean who am I specifically, or who are all these people? I'll assume the former.

First and foremost, I'm a consumer who votes on these shirts and buys shirts from this website. I'm one of the people you're trying to pitch your t-shirt designs to. I quite like them, and I think there's a real possibility that you could do something that would really appeal to me, so I give you advice that I think might help you do that. I'm a selfish consumer.

If you want to know what artistic qualifications I have to offer my design advice, the answer is "very little". I'm surprised that you would want proof of my critical credentials, seeing as you seem to be quite a non-conformist, anti-establishment guy. But I am very interested in all kinds of art and design - I studied art and design til late in school and have continued to take an interest in design and illustration as a hobby. I mean, I'm hoping to see that Helvetica film, which must indicate something...

Anyway, there it is. I give quite a lot of advice on this site, and generally people find it useful and considered. The main thing is, anywhere, and especially here, I'm perfectly entitled to state my opinion, as is anyone else.

13strong

Oh, and you're totally allowed to tell people to fuck off if you want, though it's kind of against the ethos of the site. But you're talking to a guy who constantly gets into slagging matches with people here.

I only suggested you try elsewhere because the Threadless audience these days is so conformist, and so unwilling to consider anything new or different, that I don't think your style stands much of a chance here. Good luck though.

Do you know of any other sites like threadless.com? I don't.

I appreciate that you acutally seem to think about the shirts and offer up advice especially in relation to most of the other "criticism" left in the comments section is just insults. Still, I have no use for advice from people who haven't succeeded at the thing they're commenting on. If you, 13strong, design a shirt that attempts to encapsulate sophisticated ideas in a way that is direct and unpretentious and not too pandering, and threadless.com prints it then I would be very interested in your opinion.

Just because my designs so far haven't been printed doesn't mean that if I won't if I keep following my own values. If I'm not going to have t-shirts printed I might as well be designing t-shirts that I at least enjoy drawing and looking at.

Also, I think that arguing on the internet is fun so the comment section drama is not a detractor from the enjoyment of this site.

13strong

Fair enough - I think your criteria for who you accept criticism from and who you don't is ridiculous, but whatever.

Good luck with your stuff man.

13strong

Luckythreadz quite often prints stuff that don't make it on Threadless.

NGAZIN
NGAZIN profile pic Artist

Why is it ridiculous to only follow the advice of people you trust?

13strong

It's ridiculous to only trust people on the basis that a design they've submitted got printed. Especially when you yourself have not yet been printed and are receiving very low scores. And when you don't like the vast majority of printed designs.

shirtflirt

ouch. my eyes just brokened.

NGAZIN

13srrong:
I'm afraid that I disagree with your last comment. I think it makes a lot of sense to want to take the advice of people who succeed at what you're trying to do. You ever been to a baseball game? All the people in the stand are shouting advice but what are they going to say that's going to be of value, not being ball players? In the end the players just listen to their coach and their instincts.

13strong

NGAZIN - I disagree for a number of reasons in this case, but I really can't be bothered arguing it out.

Like I said - whatever. I hope you do better here with future designs, and since you don't want it, it's really no skin off my nose if I don't offer any constructive criticism to you in future.

NGAZIN
NGAZIN profile pic Artist

I think you can be bothered arguing it out or you wouldn't have gone on with this convo for as long as you have.

"It's ridiculous to only trust people on the basis that a design they've submitted got printed. Especially when you yourself have not yet been printed and are receiving very low scores. "

Can you explain how these sentences make sense? I can't.
Because I haven't found threadless success you suggest that I should get advice from someone who hasn't submitted any designs and has no background in visual art.

This just occured to me: I would also take note of your opinion, though not neccesarily follow it, if you worked for threadless.com.

13strong

Fine. Let me amend my previous statement:

"I can't be bothered arguing it out ANY MORE".

Better?

anonhath

yeah - shut up 13strong - your not good enough to even talk to this guy - he is a true artist and what are you? just some loser,
NGAZIN - sorry you have to deal with the little people man, since you are such a genius artist you should really have an agent to insulate you from the tasteless nerds that pay the light bills by buying the shirts

_lydia

i think this is my favourite... maybe, i love all of them!

i want this so bad!!! some of the best designs ive seen in so long!

exoticrobotic

dude just ignore the little snide comments from people. yea it gets irritating to have your subs dropped and disliked so much...
but you have found a niche and are creating a following of people who love your work

stay true to your style, take some advice everynow and then from people you trust can help you along the way, and fuck the rest (silently haha, you dont have to actually tell them)
