Based on the poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot. The title, a line in the poem, refers to the aging Prufrock's insecurities of the sexual, the peach a symbol for the female genitalia. I've combined this with the delicate flaws that I find creates true beauty and in their subtlety, sensuousness.

I like it...I do feel the hand should be smaller, though. :)

Also, do you think back in his day peaches had rabies, and therefore eating one would be daring?! Last time I ate a peach it seemed pretty tame, and not all that daring really.

To eat a peach, no. Not quite so. But to become vulnerable and attempt to experience sex, the true meaning behind the line, most certainly is.

I like everything but the hand/arm

Nice.

Because the lines on the hand are so stark compared to the softer face and peach the hand stands out a bit more than it should, I think.

Er, I never thought of the poem that way. It sorta makes me dislike the design because of the reference.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but the theme of the competition is sensuous.

Sorry, not familiar with the poem - but to me the dots make sense as freckles or represent "skin"... they just look a bit weird on her eyeballs to me, that's all. =P

Like the hand, though.

Hey, the dots are supposed to be like freckles but at the same time, also paint splatter, as that's what I used to create them. I chose not to erase them over the eyes as I hoped it'd make that somewhat more known. I like the connection the paint splatter has to the mistaken or what'd normally be a flaw, sort of in the same way freckles are to skin. But (like I said in the first comment) these flaws are what I find beautiful and sensuous. I also tried to mimic the paint thing in the coloring of the peach (in that it doesn't stay entirely in the lines).

This is a very interesting shirt. I never really thought about the poem that way, so I read it again and I do see what you mean. Now, I agree with some of the others that the hand does not really look like it belongs to the person eating the peach, but I like that. In a way, I think the hand looks like it might belong the 'peach', i.e. the female in question. Therefore, by her hand holding the peach, it fits in with the idea of him being uncertain regarding the female sexuality. It's there in front of him, but...
I don't know if I personally would wear this, but it is well done.

I love the poem, and I like the artwork, so I'll give you a 5. :)

But I don't think that it really works here...

Out of curiosity, do you mean here as in Threadless? Or as a t-shirt? Also thanks for the 5 :)

I think the hand needs to have some freckles too

that's a shame it dropped out early, cause it's a really beautiful image... Perhaps it is not meant to be on a t-shirt! Think of it as the perfect illustration for the poem or a book cover...

A very good point, b_lou. I've actually been thinking I'll do a poster run. I'm trying to see if anyone would be interested in such a thing. Link to blog.
