To terrilynnl, it's a reference to the Ancient Greek creature Medusa. Snakes for hair and so foul-looking it turned anyone who saw her into stone.

I know who Medusa is but the "stone" reference really didn't click with me at first. I was mostly confused by Bob Marley having snake hair.
