oh, and i like it. the spoon handle seems to disappear into the background though. i agree that the side/bottom placement is best.

If this were cleaned up a little and had a bit more color I would give it at least a 4 or 5.

I dig the retro café menu-illustration look and I have a lot to say about this design:

- The curly things on the sides are perfect, but those on top make the bowl start to look like a fountain.
- The spoon is super-cute, but as was said, the handle is vanishing.
- The spill/shadow and "TYPE SOUP" don't need to be there. Instead, I might put a menu listing in ordinary serif font reading, "Bowl of Type Soup, $3.50" or something like that.
- The spots of soup kind of look like the plate has moles. If it were a menu illustration like I wish it were, the soup wouldn't be splashed around. (The drop and spill next to Esc should stay, though.)

Sorry to be super-critical - I see lots of potential!
