Man do I ever NOT get this. I need a translation at least a paragraph long. The poem is not informative at all, if that was the point. The poem could have been attached to a candy bar and given me SLIGHTLY less context. Granted, the illustration is good.

could do without those stars and things, and the people need to be bigger on the shirt

i'd work on making the three things (heart, embrace, kids) more different or more alike in terms of line weight and drawing style, it looks a little weird and mismatched. nice idea though.

With regard to the "sketchy-to-perfect" flow of the design, what I had in mind was to begin with the imperfect, scratchy, uncomfortable reality of the two kids, but from both their imaginations comes a more idealized, smoother, but still loose and half-formed representation of how they think it could be. And then the glory and love of the kiss is shown with perfect, ideal, machine-smooth shapes -- just like it's supposed to be, just like in movies.



Something that's not entirely clear in the preview (and I have to work on my preview skills, I know) is that nestled in the flowers the awkward boy holds limply at his side is one of those perfect, machine-smooth hearts. He doesn't know he has it, but he does -- just like everyone else has it.

Love it! Just noticed the heart in the bouquet. Love it more now!



Just a thought tho ... I would want to wear the design on a dark background, but would hope that the colours were different so as to make it pop out more. Perhaps white/yellow/black or white/yellow/green - oooh! or white/yellow/red?! *o.O*

you have a lot of talent, but the idealized hearts arent very ideal.....







the design might work better if the boy and girl were further apart, and they connected in the middle as the older people. Also you should have all clothes or none, although i think having clothes would probably sell a lot more :P. I do like your idea about the sketchy boy and girl, but since the girls in playclothes shouldnt the boy be also?
