ahhhh, this is awesome. i've always thought of doing something with the idea of how beautiful burning incense smoke is. and your explanation is amazing as well.

love it, but i have to admit that i wasn't thinking incense until i read it. it definitely looks like smoke, but i had no idea that the lines at the bottom were at first.

I wouldn't have known it was incense without the explanation. It's visually interesting. I don't like the way her face is drawn but that's personal taste rather than skill I think.

In our society, sight is usually emphasized as the most important of all the senses, and oftentimes we rely so heavily on it that it deceives us. Our perception of something from a distance is dominated by our sense of sight, but when we move closer to that subject we can experience it more fully by engaging the other, more tactlile senses. So, this design serves as a metaphor for this idea because when viewed from a distance, it appears as just a composition of burning incense, but when approached the subtle faces hidden in the smoke are revealed.
So again, engaging all the senses allows us to gain a greater understanding of what it is we perceive, likewise all the components and views contribute to the “sensuous” nature of the design.
