I like it but it is a little confusing whether that is a flower or the sun. If it is a flower, that's not an orange tree flower. I like your use of gradation.

The timeline isn't correct. Rings only indicate a seasonal change - not a point in the tree's life. You can count the rings to count the years, though. Does that make sense?
The seedling should be in the centre, the axe at the very edge. |

Gotta love dendrochronology (although we all know it's related to seasonal patterns of growth, I love the idea! ya just don't have to overthink it =)
