Shaving, when you stop and think about it - I mean REALLY think about it - is very weird. Most people don't see it that way because they've seen people shave their whole lives. It's just something that people do. My thought behind this design is that if people see something that doesn't usually shave shaving, and see how ludicrous that is, they'll stop to think about how strange it is that we do it to ourselves.

thanks for all the feedback! for the record i know lots of guys, straight guys even, who shave their pits. Mostly I chose a lion cause it's really the only animal that has distinctly longer hair on it's head, other than a horse, i guess, but that wouldn't really have worked. I wanted to use the lion to present the hipocracy of people (mainly women) keeping long hair on their heads and shaving just about everything else.

no. i'm not saying I want people to stop shaving. I just want people to stop and think about it for a minute. If they decide to stop shaving, good for them. If not ,that's fine too.

And why is not having long hair considered to be not feminine? Why am I supposed to shave everywhere but one place on my body? Who decided this? God shaving is weird."

Men, men decided women are sexier with long hair on their head and less hair everywhere else, otherwise why do it? Women have had long hair vs men a long time in European based cultures though, shaving is mror recent, I suppose to enhance the women have less hair than guys thing.

Yep, there are a lot of things that we do that aren't exactly natural. Like using a toilet and toilet paper. Driving in cars. Bathing with soap/brushing our teeth. Watching TV. Surgery. Well, you know, when you think about it, humans don't do much that IS natural anymore.



When it comes to body hair, it's all a matter of preference. I find that a lot of hair tends to itch and bother me, and not just when it's short and prickly. But it freaks me out when my cycling-enthusiast husband shaves his legs. Makes me feel like I'm snuggling up to another girl, and that's not how I'm wired. Yet beards gross me out. I suppose there are men out there that like women who don't shave. And I've known women with full beards, goatees, moustaches, etc. It certainly takes all kinds.



As for the animal kingdom, I will say that some of my cats like to "shave" themselves. It's not any kind of disease causing it, but there are a couple of mine who lick the fur off of their bellies, and one even does a sort of eclectic design on her tail. Is it neurotic behavior, or just an expression of her individuality? Or both? She's not revealing her secrets.



If women want to stop shaving, that's fine by me. But the hair annoys me, so I shave it off. My fat annoys me too, and if I could shave that off with a quick 10 minutes in the tub, I'd not think twice about it. Isn't it great that we can so easily remove what irks us? I wish I could change other things so easily!



Your design is funny and the animals are cute, great expressions. I think the design would be funnier if it addressed something like the shaving weirdness we impose on our pets...have a poodle teaching a pack of wolves how to give themselves the poodle cut (with some goggle-eyed in amazement, some snickering behind their paws, and another one skeptically giving it a shot, etc)...or a group of Siberian Huskies basking on the beach with their "summer cuts" (you know, the kind where people shave them down except for their heads, making them look like bizarre lions). Really emphasize the absurd. It may be weird and unnatural for humans to shave, but shaved animals are almost universally comical.

I very much like the idea behind it, I also like the colour. The picture IS a bit cartoonish, but maybe that fits the matter, but I thought at first that the wolf was talking into a microphone. I guess above all I like it because it makes you think :)

when i was deployed to Bosnia and Kosovo i shaved one of my legs to feel like i was in bed with a chick...it was great.

i dated a eurotrash girl one time in Germany and she didn't shave. it was kinda cool for a bit, but in a dirty sex kinda way, and my enthusiasm for it wore off after my initial rug burns healed...

i know this lady that goes to my church that doesn't shave and definitely has a beard...but her husband is always clean-shaven. they are 80 tho, and i always tell him he should let himself go, b/c his wife looks so busted.

drjedipimp, shaving is not innately healthy or hygienic (and for some people it's actually detrimental - infected ingrown hairs, anyone?), and if you really think that people can change their sexuality as an excuse for whatever personal habits they may have, you're insane. I don't know any self-respecting woman who would aspire to a job at Hooters. (For the record, I only ever bother shaving if I'm actually going to be showing my legs or armpits in public - otherwise there's no point at all! And I have a fantastic sex life, so there ya go.)
