hmm. The way the water dude looks, it seems more tree-like than watery. I think it would be a better design if it had some fluidity.

Yeah, I agree about the mollyric tree comment. Definitely thought it was a tree.
And that face is... well... stupid. Just make the water figurative enough that you can tell it is alive without drawing boring eyes and mouth on it. |

It should be spilling onto the ground and then rising from there. Then you could get the water idea across better.
