I think, even not on these forums/this site, enough people will have used the pen tool in illustrator or photoshop to know that the sun took you about two-fuck seconds to make.

It is killing any sexiness that might be in that peacock like a f'ing herpes outbreak. A glowing, yellow, tacky herpes outbreak.

but, to, "be nice!"... I'll concede that I like the color and size of it. Just take some time and draw a sun in the same style of the rest of the shirt!

I agree ...but in nicer way.. the peacock is fab but the sun has got to go.

Great peacock drawing, but if the sun stays in the design, it might need to go higher up on the shirt...

The sun can be erased in a matter of seconds if people don't like it. (but there's no need to be snide about it!)

I will post a pic of the bird without the sun on my Flickr page tonight.

This is a really cool design. It's a very unique look for this website! Keep up the good work!

FYI...I have no problem with the abstract design of the sun.

I absolutely love the way the peacock's feathers were designed. I don't mind the sun at all -- although, I do think the peacock itself is so cool that it could stand by itself.

NFoley: The majority of us on here are probably unfamiliar with herpes, so thanks for sharing your intimate knowledge of vd with us. I hope the burning sensation doesn't make you this irritable all the time.

I also imagine that a lot of the consumers on this site (vs. designers) wouldn't know how easy it is to make the shape of the sun in the shirt -- and could honestly care less. It's a great shape, regardless.

I agree that the peacock is awesome enough to stand on its own.

Lol, Violet, you rock! I agree, it sounds like a personal problem!

I will definitely post the peacock tonight without the sun on my Flickr page. I debated back & forth about the sun - I probably should have put this up in critique first to get all of your opinions on the sun, but oh, well!

Thanks for the (mostly) nice comments!

I have a couple ideas that might make the sun more palatable to the masses:

1. Maybe a paler shade of yellow - like butter yellow.

2. Turn it into a funky moon by making the color the same as the teal in the peacock's feathers.

I love the peacock.

Violetray is so feisty. Thank you from most of us I'm sure.

hahahah I used to make those designs in MS Paint (what that sun is)

hahahah I get it already!

I guess my question is, WITHOUT the sun, do you guys like it and would you wear it?

From a male's perspective, I don't think I'd wear it. But the color scheme and execution of the peacock is great. You could also go retro with the colors, too. It could be cleaned up a little with the linework. I personally think the sun throws it off. In both execution and color contrast. It just draws the eye there and abandons it.

Otherwise, I could see see it working without the sun and maybe without the bottom art. It would feel more like a pattern-based textile than a print.

Thank you for the constructive criticism - that is much more helpful for me than comparing my art to VD!

I like the sun! Maybe if it was a little smaller?

I dont like the sun much, if it was smaller, perhaps.... but the peacock is strong enough to stnad by itself.

At long last I have posted pictures on my Flickr page of the design with NO sun and also a couple of other ideas - a different placement and a version with no "ground" underneath the bird, as one person suggested. Please visit my Flickr page and tell me how you feel about the changes and what you like best.

I feel like the response is mostly positive so far, so I don't want to give up on this guy just yet!

Thanks for comments & constructive thoughts. :)

I'm curious - exactly how long is a fuck second? In my day, it meant something far different than a time measuring unit).
This is my favorite design by this artist, large glowing orb notwithstanding. I like the flow of the tail, and I think some form of background contrast is helpful.
