I back the idea of an environment... You should put the color in the environment and not on the characters... At least I love them just outlined.

absolutely love the illustration and the characters, its just a titch too plain as is, i want the brilliant chars to pop like they deserve to! ( ;

Aye, switching to a colored shirt would do the trick if you don't want to colour the design. The art is ace, tho.
