pretty cool. maybe a little smaller or something, i think the back would look funny
baconandeggs
baconandeggs on Jul 02 '07
I love it, maybe since it is only one color they could print the same thing on the back, that would be really cool I would buy 2 if they did that. but as is it is still a 5.

yo calagraphic your black and white stuff is amazing I would love one of these, and I agree with baconandeggs, if they were willing to print it on both sides that would be real cool. 5

baconandeggs and carlthehunter

if they were willing to print it both sides that would be great I just never thought to present it that way, but I think it would def be a cool idea, thanks for the suggestions and support.

DETAILS! One in ten of those little clipart graphics is actually American equipment. The tanks are Russian, the sniper rifle is a Russian Mosin Nagant from WWII, and the Skorpion machine pistol is also Russian. The Enfield L85 is British and I think that pistol is a Walther PPK, also British.

That completely muddles the message you're trying to make. There's plenty of room for commentary on the military-industrial complex, but do your research. The use of clipart is logical and appropriate for the concept, but the execution here is just lazy.

Also, they couldn't print this design that large.

bluejaybird81 on Jul 02 '07
Wow MrDomino, Impressive knowledge of army stuff, but I think its works anyway and even if you are correct most people would never know the difference and the image is great. And the visual execution is excellent. Also they eliminate all ones that are to large to print before voting so I think you are wrong about that and even if you are right, it is only one color so they could just do it with two pulls. 5

Don’t be so judgmental!

MrDomino and bluejaybird81

There is no need to argue, if what Mrdomino is saying is true then I probably should have done more research when creating the illustration but it is done now so this one is going to stay as is, next time I will try to be more careful. And Bluejaybird81 they did approve this and I have had stuff turned down due to size before so I think you are right on that point.

good catch and thanks for the comments

Love love love. $5.

Frank Vice on Jul 02 '07
the message is still clear whether or not the equipment is american...
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Jul 02 '07
Well first off I'd like it a little smaller. Maybe use smaller side placement like "Poet-trees"??

And to the critiques here: Honestly... I don't care that all the military equipment is from different countries. The design and the idea works in my opinion.

I think that war is war and it doesn't matter where the guns are from.

I'm sure that the idea here is that the American government perpetuates war. (Which I do feel that it does) And honestly if you look at any war that the US was involved in I'm sure that at least ONE of the sides probably used those weapons.

This is a cool design, but to me it's a poster.

MrDomino's point is very well taken. The concept is great, but loses its strength with all the foreign weapons. Resubmit it with all American war machines and its a $5!
phyntosia
phyntosia on Jul 02 '07
I agree with MrDomino to an extent - it would have been better with American machines - but honestly, very few people would notice. If it was in critique I'd say to change it, but it's subbed now, and it's not really a big enough deal to change it now....

I'm a stickler for details too, but I would've never noticed any of the weapons were out of place! but then- I had to read the title to realize it wasn't a wedding cake.

Man, at least your political affiliations and statements are getting waaaaaay more appealing and well-designed. Nice combo of your other abstract black and white work while still managing to make a statement about The Man. 4$
