Sloppy, poorly drawn image.

For once I agree with "Simon", no offense. With some tweaking this could be a really nice design.

Yeah, I actually agree. I like my other subs so much better than this one. But, oh well.

Bad color choice, could've been worked of harder... But I do like the idea of those scales running off like that.

I've officially been spoiled by the massive influx of amazing fish designs lately. I wouldn't call it sloppy... And I agree with Christoph about the scale idea.

I, on the other hand, would like to offer some actual constructive criticism. I really like the rawness of the image. It has the look of a screen printing gone awry. I think it could use some changes, though. I like the fact that the red scales escape the basic form of the fish, but I think that they either go too far out of bounds, or that that concept needs a balance somewhere else in the image. Plus, the white scales coming cleanly with the red kind of detracts from the "print" feel (does that make sense?). I like that you have a fair amount of consistency in shapes within the same color, especially since there's such a big contrast across the colors. However, the big teal blob isn't doin' much for me--a more interesting shape (perhaps one to mirror some of the angularity of the black--maybe broad brush strokes?), might be an improvement. Oh, and when/if you re-do this, avoid very homogenous, even spacing of elements; mix it up a little. Even spacing and symmetry destroy a lot of otherwise good designs that I've seen here.

Tell Simon the reason a lot of designs on this site are "sub-par" is because blowhards without any talent of their own fail to recognize potential and offer sound advice for improvement.

Having a shape that went with the fish may work better too instead of the generally round shape.

If Stiffitydoodah got one thing right in that pretentious posting, it was commenting that "it has the look of a screen printing gone awry". That's the one problem. Clean it up,tighten the focal point, and resub. Still diggin' your other designs. Keep it up!
