im being picky here, but i heard that the correct way to fly the flag is to have the stars on the upper left corner, whether the stripes are vertical or horizontal. but then maybe theres a reason why you wanted the stars on the other side and in which case, i have no case. nice design.

eskimokiss on Jun 19 '07 I would also never wear the u.s. flag (mostly due to the fact that i'm an aussie) but the statement this design makes is too strong, and so aligned with my point of view that I would not hesitate one bit.
And I really love what you did with the cream colour scheme. Great job Domino!5$ |

Oh, OK. I have returned home now and can see the design.
It's not like the Ad Busters one at all (well, in ideals maybe, but not in execution) so please consider my previous posts a simple friendly pointer towards a design people might like. This is pretty cool. I think it would be better to have the label one the top left, or just elsewhere - it doesn't look right where it is. Otherwise, nice design. 3 |

i think it's trying too hard.
and MTV is based in NY... the Coca-Cola sold in the US is bottled here, not shipped in from China... Nike has factories in at least 10 other countries... The Made in China label only makes sense if the brands listed are. |

Brilliant indeed and far superior to the Ad Busters graphic. This is an ongoing concept that artists and designers reinterpret so I'm not sure why some are claiming "ripoff", I guess because they're just aware of ONE other design when there are in fact many. Beautiful execution, not blatant and overdesigned... Old Glory has met it's fate, devoured by corporate greed and patriotic negligence. |

while the flag code does not make it a criminal offense to improperly use the flag
this work violates flag code in a number of ways a. THE FLAG IS THE WRONG WAY the stars should be to the viewers left b. the flag should never be used as clothing c. the flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature. clearly however I am not the target audience for this work. I don't entirely disagree with some of the anti consumerism message, I do however fully disagree w/ the anti American aspect. once moving past the whinny communist =p nature of the work it quite well executed if not horridly original and the let the slaggin' commence in 3...2...1... |

Wow. That is wonderful on any of the colour options. It's a tough one to call though, because a lot of people (like me) would love the design and concept, but not necessarily wear it on a shirt. For this design, however, I would wear the (albeit bastardised and beautifully stylized) version of the American flag.
I'm from Australia, you see, so you can understand my trepidation with wearing the American flag. $5 though. |

I want this. I need this. My favorite part is the made in china tag. $5 Perhaps I am reading too much into this design, but the china tag seems to be the crux of the entire statement. To me this doesn't read as anti-american. It seems to point toward the irony of huge, iconic american brand names that rely on foreign labor for their product. More a jab at corporate america, I guess. But, that's the way the capitalist cookie crumbles. Plus, that barely qualifies as an american flag. |

P.S. I would like to tip my hat to all the Australians who feel compelled to acknowledge their citizenship when explaining why they would never wear an american flag.

I like it. Either all-grey or the colours you're using on creme.
Also, what is the deal with this flag code thing? Why is America so precious about it? I mean, our flag has a much more venerable heritage, and yet we let Geri Halliwell wear it as a sparkly dress. :P |

This is brilliant, original, survives as a purely visual design and also carries an important message (or more). Great concept and execution, easily one of the best designs I've seen.
The flag would NOT work better horizontally, even though it's somewhat uncomfortable to read it sideways. |
