Very cute, though isn't the raised bit on the head meant to be a little longer?
I like the crinkle look - it's more in keeping with the reference. I also like that he doesn't have hair. |

chelly - it's not *that* original of a design. that's pretty immature to go straight out and accuse him of stealing. obviously two different people thought of it before, so it's not that far off for another to think of it.
i'm pretty sure this is the first t-shirt of it also... i love it. i want it. $5. |

Sorry about the similarity but I can only offer my word that the design idea was not stolen. Obviously the images are different but I've never before seen the above links. Im not too suprised someone else came up with the idea, they say a truly original idea dosen't even exist anymore.
I personally just came up with the idea because as an art student I'd been looking at some of da vincis work and just had a brainwave (because who dosent love lego). I hope allthough the idea is much the same people can understand I didnt steal the image due to the differences between the actual graphics. As ohsorachie said, two other people have come with variants on the same idea. Showing that its just a cool idea that multiple people have had. Im just the third. |

ohsorachie it isn't immature to ask an artist to provide proof that an image isn't stolen, especially when we have very little reference of his past art. not only that, but since this idea "isn't that original of a design," then my zero stands pretty solid ground.

the moon unit it is a good idea to do a quick image search before wasting too much time on a design, especially if it is a good idea. on the very first page of google i already found this link.

Oh how I miss the lego years. Regardless of the similarities, I think this composition is stronger. I like it, but wouldn't wear it. As stated many times before, I dont' wear white.

Yo Chelly, back it up ok. I happen to know the artist personally and for some time now and Ive been a massive fan of his work. Take your hate crimes elsewhere, its a kickass concept and so what if its already been thought of in other contexts its obvious that if the moon unit was aware of this he wouldnt have posted this design because it would have been shot down, as you are attempting to do. Just chill out, this guy is the real deal. Not that keen on the crinkles in the background and id like to see it in different colour but nontheless $5 mate, you rock the Kasbar!!!

Like I said in my first comment, I'm sure it's not a deliberate copy, I can understand how more than one designer can come up with the same concept, has happened plenty of times with other submissions on this site.

nilla please! if i was hatin' it would have been very clear. at no point do i attack the artist or say that he lacks talent. in fact, i try to be helpful and am kind enough to say that i look forward to future submissions. the fact of the matter is, there isn't enough difference between this submission and the dozen-plus exact same designs (on MULTIPLE sites) for something to go unsaid. i respect you sticking up for your friend, but it is totally unnecessary as no one has said that he directly plagiarized. |

Heres the facts you aren't understanding. A)threadless accepts ORIGINAL designs. If a design is available somewhere else, even if its on a sock or a hat or a shotglass or whatever, it is not ORIGINAL. B) She said it in a very nice way, saying "look forward to seeing more subs" in no way is she degrading the artist in any way about his talent or otherwise, just observing that this is not original. She didn't say anything derrogatory.

Love this, even if similar designs have been seen before. I'd buy it if it weren't white/cream/natural as I don't wear those colors, but I can see the desire to use those colors as it works well with the concept.

I prefer my designs to be strong and clean. Not sure how the crinkles will turn out though, so it might look good with the rest of the design.
Keep it with no wig because the peg on top of the head helps denote it as a lego and not, say, a cartoon character or Mii. Though Miinatomy wouldn't be half bad as a shirt design. |
