in nature peacocks are so vibrant, it is an injustice to deny the picture more color...

Not to sound redundant to the other people, but color is needed... no question. Just spend a little more time thinking out your plan and working on it.

I actually think it might be interesting to add color to the surroundings and leave the peacock black and white.

I agree with the colour comments. It's a beautiful design. Maybe it could sustain B/W if it was placed on a vivid coloured shirt... a jade or a peacock-y blue...?

give the darker gray a tint of turquise or what ever that color is on peacocks, actually make the feathers with metalic colors like on the bird.
