I think beaks are the most distinctive feature of ducks, it feels odd not to see them. Where are they? Also, those little clouds imply smoke or crashing to me, not passion.

I agree it is hard to tell they are ducks without the beaks. It almost looks unfinished. I do like the placement you chose instead of sticking it dead center.
