i really dig this. I'm more ninja than pirate though.
however from a design perspective... i think the argyle black patch would do well over the eye instead of on the sleeve. 5$ but i'd be buying it for someone else. :-) |

There's something about the line-work that bothers me. It's just not very clean.

its very clean...i dont get that comment...what part is not clean?

I don't think the linework is finished-looking.
There are points where it almost fades away to nothing, and parts where is is much thicker, without any real reason. Also, the moustache turns into the nostril. It looks a little odd. |

13strong : the lines are tapered which is why they fade away.
The nostril thing was on purpose. It's just a style I wanted to try. |

You may have seen it on more mens (probably golfers) clothing than womens, but it still makes that pirate look gay. I wasn't saying gay men wear argyle, just him.

Hahahaha. This amused me. Personally I don't think the pun would come across without an explanation, and the random patch isn't quite doing it for me, but I LOVED your artwork as far as his face goes...you really captured the angry pirate look while still keeping it cartoony enough to be funny. Good use of colour as well.
