Jenraskopf - It's Northern Ireland, not Southern Ireland. There is a huge difference. Ireland (Eire) is a country all on it's own. Northern Ireland is part of Great Britain and the United Kingdom which are one and the same. Just as Wales, Scotland and England are all parts of Britain, they are also countries in their own right.

I know it's a little confusing but they are all under the jurisdiction of the same central Government and the rule of the the British Monarch, who is currently Queen Elizabeth II (gawd bless 'er). Think of them a little like American States, although they all have a much stronger national identity. Another way to look at it is like a mini continent.

England
Scotland
Wales
Northern Ireland
Ireland (Eire)

The first 4 are all part of Great Britain/The United Kingdom

Ireland is not, it had it's own currency (now part of the Euro) and has it's own government.
