The stars look a little blurry on the gif as it's been ruduced down so much but there aren't any gradients in it.

maybe the flag should be a little bigger

does this mean the US is taking over the universe?

Stars and Stripes - I like ditto about the stripes beingbigger. not sure how much bigger but bigger. Maybe even just containing the smaller image of the stripes in a rectangle and blowing it up -feel me?

unique. i'm probably reading too much into it, but i feel like this has a lot of...imperialistic implications. i still really like it though.

you cant be serious, i wouldn't wear a shirt with an US flag on it. though I'm not an American. thankfully

Happy to be American!

Yeah you could make the flag bigger and fill the blue with stars...maybe even galaxies ;o)

I like your idea...though what I read is more editorial...that what we stand for "in principle" is much higher than mere foreign or social policies...but an all encompassing freedom and equality for all.

I'd prefer to keep the stripes small in order to emphasise the enormaty of the universe it contains. It is about the US taking over the universe but whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you. Hidook and thatchick sum up the opposing view points perfectly.

The US taking over the universe is a BAD thing, no doubt. And because of that, I wouldn't wear this.

you don't have to not wear it just because of that though. you could wear it as an amusing ironic statement. It wasn't designed to be as black and white as for and against america.

I love this! Defo buy it...today Iraq (kinda) tomorrow the universe!

I totally agree with Sooty - wear it and make a statement...

Great design AND a happy by product. The perfect chance to clear up one of life's anomolies...can Americans understand the notion of irony...mmm

Hint: the scenarios in Alanis Morrisette's song 'Ironic' aren't...and THAT'S ironic!!!

I object to this strongly (sorry)
there are other places and races not just America. America is not exactly the high point of human existance. I understand the opposing sides statement but I still dont like the implication.

   sooty on May 16 '07
I know what you mean but the point is that there aren't many places or races that aren't influenced by the US in some way, negatively or positively.

This is like in Fight Club when it is discussed that we will soon have corporate-sponsored space clusters, like the Starbucks Galaxy, etc.

Having said that, if i saw someone wearing this i'd ask them why only their left boob is patriotic.

Oh! I love this. Not only does the iconic image suit the 4 colour restrictions, (the use of only 2 colours is very effective), but also it has a nice controversial/patriotic twist to it. I'd buy this!

13strong on May 16 '07
It's not patriotic - it's threatening and imperialistic.

I would retort, but I have a bad habit of clogging up comments pages with debate, and I don't want to do that here. I will start a blog on this subject.

I like the shirt from either view points...

personally i'd wear it as a "america is taking over the universe and that scares the crap out of me" statement.

anyhoo - agree that the stars (or even galaxies) being all over the shirt would be awesome...
