I dare you to wear this to an airport.
jenraskopf
jenraskopf on Apr 24 '07
The gun should really be taped to the small of the back so it's more accessible. Between the shoulder blades would be harder to reach quickly and slow down the action hero.
Aristarchus
Aristarchus on Apr 24 '07
...but shouldn't the gun be at the small of the back? As opposed to up behind the shoulders.

I agree - consider moving it lower on the back.

Wasn't there one sub pretty recently that was a gun in the back of the shirt all the way at the bottom, but upon closer inspection it was a water gun?

This makes me think of that a lot, but minus all the subtly.
13strong
13strong on Apr 24 '07
Presumably the reason this is at the top, and not in the small of the back, is that it's a reference to Die Hard.

But I agree with others here that perhaps gun designs aren't in the best taste right now, if they ever are.

I really don't understand people's obsession with guns, but at least this is a film reference...

You want to worry about something, worry about the NRA. The influence they have is far greater than the influence a t-shirt design has.

There is a world of ideas out there for beautiful, witty, thought-provoking designs. Can everyone just leave the guns alone? It's just adolescent to be so fixated by these things. Pathetic. I didn't want to be rude, but that's how it is. Same goes for all the teen wank fantasies of nubile, coquettish women with pert bits.

It's cool but i'll like it much more with another font.
13strong
13strong on Apr 26 '07
jpiatt - yes, this t-shirt will not make anyone go out on a shooting spree, and yes, it's a reference to a film.

But after something as shocking and horrible as the VT massacre, don't you think it might be time to lay off the gun references for a bit? People see an image of a gun strapped to someone's back, and they think of the VT shooting, because it's prominent in everyone's mind right now.

And he may have been a fucking psycho, but he was a fucking psycho with a gun. Big difference.

Aristarchus
Aristarchus on Apr 27 '07
^ Is it insensitive of me to say that these kinds of comments bore me?

No disrespect meant to the students at Va Tech, but people's reactions to school shootings and the like are assinine. For a couple of weeks, maybe a month, everyone's on about "*tsk* Too soon!" this, and "*ugh* Guns!" that. But pretty fuckin' fast, they all forget about them and everything is back to normal.

If you really gave a shit about people who are victims of gun violence, your outrage would last a little longer than it takes for Brittney Spears's latest fashion faux pas to push the latest school shooting off the headline.

End rant. Now give it a rest.

ya in light of VT, ppl will frown upon most gone related designs, but besides that if the gun is taped to ur shoulder how can u reach it, its gotta be by the kidney.
RUTH1
RUTH1 on Apr 28 '07
I like guns a lot, I own a couple but I have never wanted a shirt with one printed on it. I just don't think it's cool. Now, a shirt with kittens and a hand grenade, that I would buy!
vanilla_is_not_bland
vanilla_is_not_bland on Apr 28 '07
The illustration is good, but the idea behind the shirt is a little scary.

I would suggest switching the gun to McGyver type stuff- like a paperclip, a stick of gum, and some string. More tasteful, same idea.
ourari
ourari on Apr 28 '07
If the gun was taped to the lower back, where one could actually reach it, I'd give this design a $5 :)

Until then: 4

StrobesAU on Apr 28 '07
The funny thing (both "haha" and "strange") is that most people only get upset about a t-shirt after a headline news incident. People get shot every day, this shirt isn't going to up the number any, just like not printing this shirt won't save any lives.

That said, I give this a $5.
ZingerVx1k

it is so insensitive to the violence in todays society.

i like your style (i just looked at your other subs), and after finding out that this was a die hard reference, it's hillarious (i've never seen it. i know. i'm lame).

is it horrible if i didn't even think of the VT shootings when i saw this? the shirt has nothing to do with it.

i agree with lornagertrude, pu it higher up. i can't reach between my shoulder blades to scratch an itch, let alone to subtly reach for a gun.

also, the die hard font on the front would make it just a little easier to understand. but the sublty is nice too.

MaddMatt on May 01 '07
I can understand why some people freak out about guns. I also understand that this did come with some bad timing. But when it get's down to it, a t-shirt, a song, or other common media really is never going to make a difference when it comes to gun control issues. If someone wants to make a difference write to your congressman, go to council meetings, get your opinion heard. I am a strong supporter of stricter gun controls laws, some people should not have them. I own 3 guns myself and I love to target shoot (not into hunting but thats just me). over all, I love die hard and I have wanted to make this shirt since I first found this site.

as far as colors go, the square boxes in the top right were my choices for color. I thought it was easier displayed for scoring on white but it can really be printed on any color.
