The 80's can be represented by shoes.

[#1 & #5]Converse Chucks & Vans Slip-ons: Continued to gain popularity and were worn by everyone in 80's movies.
[#2] Future Nike High Tops: Given to Marty McFly in 'Back to the Future 2.'
[#3] Adidas Superstar: Favorite of B-Boys and Run DMC, who liked them "funky fresh...with no shoe string in 'em."
[#4] Nike Air Jordan I: Michael's first pair came out in 1985 and caused a big ruckus because the colors were too bold.

Fair in denim. The Converse aren't converse-ish enough. Three?

I love this and I don't know why!

I would love to see some of those pump shoes in this. Or was that early 90s.

What about the Air Force 1? The shoe that revolutionized street ball?

shawnoc: I thought about the AF1, but I needed a mid-top to balance that side.

Noah: what pattern should be on the chucks? I made it solid orange because the Nikes next to it were so solidly white.

The Chucks are All-Stars, so they need the star in the circle...
ut pactum
ut pactum on Mar 28 '07
The star in the circle is actually very far back near the heel and only shows up on the high-top model. I did a low-top, which bears no circle & star.

My goal was not to incorporate or even mimic brand trademarks on the shoes - they should be recognizable without.

Reebok PUMP is missing ?

I get that there are no laces and why, but there are also no lace holes and that looks a bit odd to me?!?

on the shell toe, i would get rid of the shadow and change the grooves to one of the grays
otherwise the grooves look too deep
oh no that's the least funky thing a person can say
i guess they're really ridges anyway
thank god

I like the Reebok Pump Idea. You could do a shirt of the shoes that you would get beaten for wearing; the Reebok Pump, the Karl Malone Catapault, The KMart version of Adidas that either had 2 or 4 stripes... the possibilities are endless

"Continued to gain popularity..."

None of them were released in the 80s, except the Air Jordan.

The Cons don't look like Cons, unfortunately. I would like this better if they did.
litlnemo
litlnemo on Mar 31 '07
I should add that the reason they are hard to recognize (besides the circle being hidden) is the lack of laces and holes. You did that for all the shoes, but it has the unfortunate effect of making the Chucks hard to recognize.

I'd like to see the Vans in the popular checkerboard versus the stripes. And I agree with the above posts about the Chucks, I think it'd be more effective as the hi top. But I understand you trying to balance out the lowtop Vans on the opposite side. Awesome job.

you should do it with the 90's also...you could throw on some of the jordans like the 11's and some dunks

I would like it if the shoes had more detail and if there was some kind of background surrounding the shoes...just my point of view
