Something about the white in the beard and the other white part of the wave just looks too...pure :-/ Now, im certainly no artist, or even an ocean or wave enthusiast, but I think the white just might be too overpowering. If you look at the picture of Tsunami by Hokusai ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Tsunami_by_hokusai_19th_century.jpg ) , you can see that there's more lines and shading throughout the entire crest of the wave. I'd love to see some more royal and the lighter blue color thrown in there. Great concept.
