FLAVOR FLAV!!!!! FIGHT THE POWER!!!!!!! 5$ BOOOOIIIIII

J-Ray

$5 OMG I need this!!

FRICKINAWESOME

philly- this isn't about flava Flav, it's about MC Hammer and his immortal "Hammertime!" Please, don't hurt em' hammer for not knowing that! You got the baggy pants man's move down very well on the clock's animation. I love this so much, and then i don't as much when i look at where the chain has to end to be on the tee...5$ if Threadless can print over the seems, 4$ now because i don't think they can.

"STOP!"

Actually, it's a reference on two of the most renowned artists back in the day. It's a cross between Flava Flav (wall clock) and MC Hammer (the U Can't Touch This-spandex-classic dance step). I opted to use this because I think it best fits the criteria that the design being a timeless piece of accessory (a hiphop "bling" since our protagonist is a b-boy) from a very popular era (80s being the most widely recognized, therefore making it a timeless generation).

I'm sure it will not score that well, nor will it win the hearts of the 13-16 year old voting public here in Threadless since they
weren't even born by that time, I quess. I've been wanting to do this design 'coz I think it's really fun. I hope you enjoy it and get the message.

The name stuck too since it's a clock, and clocks tell you the time.

They tell you when it's Hammertime.

"Yeeaaahhhhhhhhhhh booooooooiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!

PS: zoom for details ;)

1 design submitted - Score now!

Love it. Hammertime isn't that old school though. I think he came out with that around 89/90. Still give it a 4.

FRICKINAWESOME

Luckily for you 13 year old girls won't be judging who wins this contest- the producers of the film will!

aperobic

lol make me remind me "public enemy" lol

apartment223

i'm gonna be a dick ... but i have to for the sake of rating this shirt honestly and accurately.

those hands aren't accurate, at only 12 minutes past the hour hands won't have been almost all the way to an hour.

also, MC Hammer and Public Enemy were both really late eighties to early nineties. i think this shirt is out of context with the contest.

the way that you chose to just end the chains half way through a link, suddenly, and not even go around to the back of the neck or into the collar is REAL FUCKING HORRIBLE.

now with all of that said, this shirt deserves nothing more than a -2-.

theurbanraptor

holla!
shaddddddup brett.

its a t-shirt design.

good job k-unit!

@Brett F.:

1. You don't need to take this design seriously.
2. It's not about Public Enemy.
3. MC Hammer may have been late eighties, but the loves competition cleary said "Kickin' it in the 80s". So early/late 80s is STILL the 80s.
4. The chain can be easily fixed.
5. Zero this design if you feel like doing so. I'm glad I didn't zero'ed any of your designs (since you don't have any designs.)
6. Easy on the Giggle Cream.

potatoesrus

ths is positively wonderful, the chains would be better all the way around the neck, but what you have done is wonderful! fantastic rendering, wonderful ideas, etc.

potatoesrus

oh and your enthusiasm just completely seals the deal.

Fletcher Fashion

I hate graphics of necklaces and ties and shit on shirts. But I kind of like this. 3.

Edword

nice remix! work it!

amaliaslash

i love this the most on a hoodie. the abrupt ending of the chains bothers me a little bit, too, but threadless does have their rule about not printing on seams, so what can you do.

or maybe instead of ending with half a link, you use just a full chain length. it may look better, it may not.

goldfishblink

Kaloyser, (in response to brett f)

1. how can you say this isn't about public enemy? the idea obviously came from flav who, during this time period, would have been with public enemy.
2. mc hammer has nothing to do with this unless you're commenting on "hammer time" which would be more effective if you left off the chain so people didn't look at it as relating to public enemy.

arabiantealeaves

i've always wondered what time hammer-time was... clearly, it's 7:12.

virmanvunderbar

Oh shut up, guys.

The hands don't have to be perfect. No one is going to come up real close to your chest and say, "HEY! YOUR FLAVOR FLAV CLOCK DOESN'T HAVE A REAL TIME ON IT! OH NOOO BOOII!"

Also. So what if it has to do with Public Enemy or not?

I'm sure that a large portion people rating these shirts only understand the clock thing because of VH1's Flavor of Love.

If it makes it, I'm sure it will be sold lots of. Because it IS a great design.

If it isn't, oh well. But it's not going to not make it because the hour hand doesn't agree with the minute hand. Or because Flav made a career decision to be part of a group.

mmm...steak

i love the words over the people's eyes. lol

crap

the MC Hammer dude looks weird - he has no neck - and the lettering is very boring. sorry

lasso.chicken.boxer552

i like it. its very crisp and it isnt to over the top. the MC Hammer guy looks a wee bit like the boogie man in the nightmare before christmas though. but i still like it. good job.

phillyphobic

frickinawesome: thanks for the correction. I was thinking the big clock was exclusively a Flavor Flav thing though I saw Hammer dancing inside. I think I like the shirt even more considering it kinda captures both 80's refs.

stardance

I loled a bit, but the chain doesn't quite work and I have to knock you down for putting a stupid dictionary definition in your explanation. Anyone who does that does not deserve $2,000. Sorry.

mefx1

huge!!!

amoania

For the record:
MC Hammer released his first album in 1987 (Hammertime in 1990 as a single).
Public Enemy (with Flavor Flav) released their first album in 1987. Flavor Flav didn't release a solo album until 2006.

That aside, this design is hilarious, and a lot of people who actually LIVED THROUGH the 80's would likely find it awesome. I'd buy it, and I'm sure some of my friends would buy it, and most of us were all born between 78-82.

LosAngelaskan

The chain ending at the collar makes the design look a little cheap. . . it's too bad it can't be extended around the collar. . . because otherwise I'd buy it!! :-)

verilens

This is hilarious!!! I love it, but I think the clock could be a lot smaller...that's the only thing that would deter me from buying.

ivannacookie

the hands are a little off but who cares! I WANT IT

Rosy Posie

Nice, maybe make the graphic a little smaller?

Danger Girl

No way! The clock size is right on! I do notice a lack of neck on Hammer, and maybe the hair outline could be a little more distinctively angled. If you moved the chains out a bit, could you get them to go higher up the shirt, like butt them right up against that shoulder seam? I've always hated shirts that look like stuff is hanging around your neck - but I LOVE this! It says 80's to me, and I certainly lived them. $5!

kaloyster
kaloyster profile pic Artist

@Danger Girl: IF, in some odd circumstances they pick this, it'd be easy to make the gold chain longer to reach the neck area. And he sure does lack neck on this shot :)

Thanks everyone for appreciating (and despising) this fun(ny) design, y'all!

"I told you, homeboy: U can't touch this."

NessaChan

haha, pretty brilliant.

m-unit_xo

yo, vanilla kick it one time boiiiiii.

hahaha...

i would so buy this for my friend

5$

Comrade Corey

Brett F.?? What a paltry disguise!! Is that you, NFL quarterback Brett Favre?? Posing as an innocent t-shirt fan...for shame!!

This shirt, sir, is a classic. You, sir, are a buffoon.

And for the record...
...the Green Bay Packers blow and Brett Favre should have retired years ago.

(you know, just to twist the knife if you really are him...or if you just like him...or if not, who gives a shit)

tasty_soup

Hehe brilliant visual impact! I don't care that it's not bob-on in terms of accuracy, it works and I'd wear it.

Thanks for the giggle!

i_talkalot

Neato! I like.

tactx

oh thats just not.... well yeah, nope

o2be_me

Stop it. This was never cool.

smartbacon

I just don't see how you can mix Public Enemy with MC Hammer. It just doesn't make sense. Granted, they are hip-hop and 80's but of different principles and ideals. Albeit, Flav was the party man of PE. But PE "Fight the Power" wins over "Hammer Time" anytime! Hate, hate, hate! Don't take it too seriously! ;) I sometimes hate to admit I liked MC Hammer when I was a kid and was scared of Chuck D and Prof. Grif. But word to jumping on the clock. the clock is dope!

lisette

When I looked at the image, I immediately saw Flava Flav represented by the clock, of course, and the image inside the clock as Hammer. but like Smarkbacon pointed out, they are very very different messages. REGARDLESS, The clock could be a bit smaller with the chain disappearing into the collar on the tees. BUT!!! I love the clock, especially on the hoodie! It alone is enough for me, definitely represents old skool.

JuggoPop

replace hammer with a carebear and we'd have a winner...

tshirtfreakfan

=o New York is going to die when she see's this lol

Raid71

lol... great idea
