Very cool. Characters remind me of the Illustrations of Edward Gorey, whom I love. Nice one.

Something about the three snorklers doesn't work for me... maybe it's the guy picking the fruit and he's sort of floating away on top of the other guy (maybe he should have fins on). Also I'd like to see the tree centered. Maybe the fruit picker guy might work better on the other side of the tree? I love the tree and the fishes and the colors.

I DO wonder where fish come from! Very whimsical. I don't think you need all the people, one would make the whole image much cleaner.

I agree with Sunshine - I think they all should be floating a bit. As for centered, I suppose so. I dunno, though... maybe the tree should be placed more to one side? Either way, something merks me about the placement of the tree.
Other than that, I like the colors and artwork. The colors stand out, even while being blue on a blue shirt. I think it's abstract and rather cool. 4 and MAYBE a buy |

All of your designs are amazing. Although, I agree with the above comment about how all three of the people should be floating. Also, the roots of the tree seem a little off to me. Maybe there should be more/some kind of coming off the sides toward the back to make it seem more 3-dimensional.
p.s. I would kill for your "My Turn" shirt. It is pretty much the best thing I have ever seen on Threadless. |

I don't think the fish in the trunk work. I bet all fish that come from the trunk swim into walls until their eyes burst. They're not sound.

It would seem that they're completely underwater, in which case snorkels would be useless. I get the point, but it still bothers me a bit. Seems like a small detail but it was the first thing I noticed.
I still give it a $4, only not a five because they would drown with snorkels on. |

Thelonius, obviously they would die if they were wearing snorkels, but even more obviously so, fish don't come from bubbles on a tree. That's the beauty of art, it doesn't have to follow the rules or make sense. It's a whimsical, imaginative design. So use your imagination! Don't ruin it by being overly realistic.
Anyways, Valor, amazing as always. I love the little guy pointing to the other. $5 |

Fish don't come from bubbles? Now I just don't know what to believe anymore...

valorandvellum on Mar 20 '07 I think I need to clear a few things up... First of all, fish do in fact come from bubbles. The bubbles are produced in the trunk of the tree and when the fish is ready to hatch, the bubble travels outward towards the limbs. I thought everyone knew this?
Also, people who wear snorkels can still dive down to the bottom. They just have to go up to the surface every now and then for air. They use the same technique as dolphins. |

Well, good point about the snorkels, but two of the people aren't diving, they're just chilling out. And the bubbles give the impression that they're breathing. It's not really a big deal. The anal side of me just felt the need to point it out. I love the design.

And I was actually kidding in the last part of my comment about giving it a 4 because of the snorkels (it's tough to convey subtle sarcasm when typing). I gave it a $5.

awe the bubbles remind me of the little bags of fish they give you at the pet store to take home :)
