LOL... this one cracked me up. I have a friend who at one time had 4 bugs, and he would cannibalize some of them to keep others running. I only wish you could get the point across without having to actually have him say "A spare engine!"

Tonteau on Mar 19 '07 Possibly, Bramish. All you need to know is that a beetle has it's engine at the back of the car, in the place most cars have their spare tyre.

the fact that the car may or may not be a beetle doesn't matter as much to me, and i do actually find the shirt funny... what bothers me a lot is how the engine is shown, in that circular outline...i think it would look A LOT better if you drew in the missing detail.

the guy's arms need a little work. Right now he looks a bit like a Thalidomide baby. I think it would be better if you smoothed out the car , but I understood that it was a Beetle right away. I also think it's fine with the circular outline for the engine, it drives home the idea that a spare tire would usually be there.

For those of you that are currently going "Ha-whuh?", the car on the shirt is an old edition of a VW Beetle and with the the older cars the engine would be in the back-- not the front like newer cars. This dude thinks that the car comes with two engines.

Maybe you could clarify that it's a VW by adding to the sign, something like: "1979 Beetle for sale". I've looked at oodles of vw's and the car in this submission looks like none i've ever seen.

i got it. VW beetle's aren't the cars to have the engine in the back. (of course that car doesn't look like a beetle) it's funny though. i like that the kid is wearing a threadless shirt.

I didn't even think it was really that funny after reading the story. I think that maybe this shirt is too specific to ever be rated really well. Also, he's got a car yet he's wearing the infinite mpg tee?

i haven't ever heard the spare engine one, but i have heard "wait, why does it have two engines?" funny idea.
oh, and you'd never be able to have the vw logo in it. those people go nuts when you use their names/logos/anything. |
