I think it's supposed to be "untied" instead of "united". he spelled it the same way in the title. I just don't get it.

Freedom is an illusion! People are still being censored and denied rights.

Is united spelt wrong for a reason?

i believe it's spelled that way to drive home the meaning of this underused idea.

i think i get the general thrust of the message but it seems confused as to where & why peeple aren't free,

the graphic is interesting but the colours don't fly, they cheapen the look, dont drop the message just change the way you say it!

makes me think of that sex pistols album cover...

i mostly like it but i do feel that the way it's done is going to appeal to a very small demographic (which basically means your design might not score as well as it would if it was done a little bit differently)--i personally agree with your sentiments, but stylistically speaking this shirt doesn't appeal to me.

muddycrowe got me singing... "freedom costs a buck o five." It's a good message, but I don't think that the execution pulls it off. I would lose the double sides. The paint splatter is kind of too popular these days and it is a bit distracting as well. The boxiness of Mount Rushmore is a little bothersome to me. But like I said before it is a good message/concept.

Haha. Love it.

When I say "United States of America"...
I usually do " 'united' states of America"

i like the 'freedom isn't free' part without the bashing of the united states.
but that's just the humble opinion of a canadian.

considering that the only freedom that you have ever had to pay for was the freedom from your parents to go out on a weekend or the freedom you have found in college, which your parents are probably paying for, freedom isn't free. To those of us that understand that you have picked up on the ever un-original idea of taking a phrase that actually meant something at one time, over-using it, and then twisting it 180 degrees from what it originally stood for, your base attempt at a political statement fails as much as your attempt to discredit the phrase that is rooted in any country's history at becoming independent from tyrannical rule.

Jump on the bandwagon because it is cool to live off of someone else and only attempt to change the course of history through ridicule and learn your history through Michael Moore's proselytizing. Become educated, think for yourself, and then make your own decisions = true freedom, and that definitely isn't earned without giving something up.

The meaning behind the misspelling is not clear or it's simply not strong enough to warrant a grammar error in print. I just think people would think your shirt has a typo.

Untied.....as in.....we are at war, there are many other countries that mock us because of our president, etc. etc.

The message isn't getting through, I think the back ground design misdirects a little.

I love it.
It isn't a misspelled "United" it's "Untied".
Like the United States has been untied and is comming loose.
We are an unraveling nation.
LeRoi
LeRoi on Mar 19 '07
It's definitely supposed to be "Untied." As in America is falling apart and nothing's being done to stop it.

And the back text can be read as either "Freedom isn't free" or "Freedom wasn't free."

[Listen to Fletcher Fashion. He knows what he's talking about.]

"Freedom, as Titus can tell you, is the right to make the wrong decision." I think it's sweet, and think that it is ridiculous to not get the whole "untied" "united" thing. Sorry. I'd buy it. Did that whole comment make sense? Sorry again...

interesting how this "theme" provokes all these diverse thoughts . . . indeed it is one very powerful and an idea long over due, but what is it that you - the designer - want to provoke?
mushrush
mushrush on Mar 20 '07
An idea long overdue? "The Price of Freedom" and it's variations is one of the oldest most hackneyed "messages" ever to grace bumper stickers and t-shirts.

This design looks so much like something MTV did that it shoots itself in the foot and seems hypocritical whether it is or not. Unfortunately, MTV has made some styles mean "corporate bullshit" no matter what the "message" is.

I don't really want to get personally political and stray from discussing the design itself, but I will say this: I paid taxes this year like I do every year. I don't pretend to think that "freedom" of any kind is really "free."

Yawn.

untied... ooh witty... i get it.

kind of a cheesy effect on the pic... its all just kind of cheesy IMO. Looks like something your middle school punk rocker would put on their blog.

Keep with the propaganda art, I like it in general. Little more effort/originality though to get my $$$
