i think that rather than just writing "snap" you should show a snapped string.

The way the bird is positioned kinda/sorta/maybe makes it look headless. And I agree with itwasa trick on the showing a snapped string instead of writing the word. Otherwise, adorable!

Hi guys -- thanks for the comments (I missed my e-mail that it got posted, so I hadn't seen it was up).

Anyhoo, as for the SNAP! actually being in there, I thought that if I used the word, it would be read, and that would produce more of a sound effect (onomatopoeia and all) in somebody's head. And I'd like someone seeing it to hear the SNAP! but look at the expressions on the bedeviled cup-mates.

I actually dreamed it, kind of -- I had a dream about a turtle and an elephant breaking an elevator.

I thought it'd be a fun nursery rhyme too:

Pachyderm, Tortoise, + Snake
Climbed into Bird's tea cup

Snake began to shake
"Bird are you strong enough?"

Bird did not choose to answer
He pulled them into the air

And though his wings had power
There was a SNAP! on the thether

Perhaps it could have held Pachyderm
Or even Pachyderm and Snake

But when they added Tortoise
The thing was bound to break

so cute! i actually like the "snap!" more than just a broken string bc i definitely did have that sound effect thing happening when i read it... so cute (and a little sad)
