I appreciate the dedication and execution on this design, but how about something "conceptual" about Cobain rather than just his big head on a shirt. They sell things like this at malls.

Ow, You guys are mean. If they sale it at malls then it must sale. The color and the style is the concept and considering there is samurais commtting hari cari in wich the blood splatter turns into flowers on this site and girls blowing there brains out so they can turn into butterflies, I would think just having a shot of Kurt period would be murder enough. Don't worry I have other concepts and ideas in the works. Also you had to have been born before '93 to of had this shirt in '93.

you did a very nice job with him, but I just don't think it would make a very nice t-shirt. It would be cool to see some other designs from you.

This was done in illustrator. My original idea was to have him in all reds but that just seemed too evil. This illustration was just done out of boredom and was never even intended for a shirt I just wanted to see what kind of reponse I would get with it. I probly should have done the critique thing first then this. I personally would think this would make a pretty cool shirt especially the off center one. You know, Kurt is the #1 selling dead rockstar of all time!

i think it looks great. but there is truth in what ska said. take it a little further..the idea needs something else going on.
otherwise, if this was a sub for kobain contest, you'd win.
the illo is really, really nice.

hardly mean, and the colour is not a concept unless it's something obviously to do with colour...like the RGB design (and that wasn't even that good).

no, the concept is "kurt cobain's head" plain and simple. and being that it is just that. regardless of how it's rendered, it's a mall shirt.

on threadless there is a Critique function...i suggest using it. i have and many others do.

I wasn't trying to be mean. In fact, considering the things that I was THINKING about saying, I held back. Look, I'm not knocking mall sales. But if you've seen the stuff on this side, you know this is a little different. There's nothing wrong with a Kurt Cobain shirt, but just putting a picture of his head on it is, well, kinda boring and does nothing to set it apart from all the other Kurt cobain shirts at the mall. you did it in a couple of other colors, great. and if all you're interested in is selling a shirt, you can find someone to buy this. But if you want to tell the world what YOU think about Cobain, this ain't doing it. Look at your first description of your shirt. Why not use that? Why didn't you do a shirt with (in order) a mulatto, an albino, a mosquito and someone with an overactive libido? With no text. That, to me, would be a more interesting concept than just a picture of Cobain. I could download one in two seconds.

Don't take what people say so hard. If you're going to be an artist, get used to it.

Hey Chris, don't feel disheartened. You did a great job. It's very well executed. Yet I don't see it on black. Too present. Maybe on blue or kahki.

I am new here but I am a big boy, I can take it. Don't worry let me have it, I should have put this in the other section first, then made some modifications to it. Kurt is always sort of an ill topic with people. The first line up there comes from "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

I'll get Courtney Love on the phone. I'm sure that Threadless will be willing to give her whatever she's asking for so that they can print a limited edition run of shirts.

Not for Threadless dude....

Not me. I liked Nirvana. It was the first rock music for me that did something different in a long time.

The first line up there comes from "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

No. Really?

Thanks for telling us. I didn't know this and I've heard
the song too many times and I've seen the video too
many times. I barely understand a word coming from
Cobain's mouth when he's singing. That's why Weird Al's
spoof of Nirvana singing with a mouth full of marbles is
so funny. :)

Yes, Nirvana infected everything when they came out. I cried when I heard what happened to Kurt. But being here and having all of your imput has given me a really great idea I might try. Yes there is a poll out there and Kurt did out do Elvis in sales.

The thing that is the most important to me about Kurt is the range of influence he has had on popular music. I love that this shrit has brought about a discussion of Kurt too. If you ever get a chance…check out Last Days. It is a really cool movie, and also look for a band from England called "Chimp". I they are unsigned, but they are very good, not tacky or corny and they sound exactly like you know who.

i just had an argument with my friend about Threadless' market. Lots of designs score high that should not, and lots score low that are really great from an artistic point of view.

This is something that would sell well, maybe, but is not for Threadless' market. Threadless buyers like to see original material, not your interpretation of something done many times. Try starting with a drawing of your own, and work up from there.

Why would I want to buy this shirt on Threadless when you can get something so similar to this almost anywhere...

My Husband knew Craig Montgomery (Nirvana's Sound Engineer), and when I was pregnant with our 1st baby I made him refuse an invitation to be on the band's Guest List for they're final SNL appearance - in my defence I was going thru a very unsocial phase of pregnancy called "Nesting" - however, I know I'll never live long enough to hear the end of it.

That said, I'm pretty certain he's gonna give this a non-score.

I totally love it...it isn't taken off of an album and put onto a t-shirt, there is a touch of new creation...
