About my design

I strongly feel that one of the largest causes of depression in North America is television. Ads always saying you're not good enough unless you have this, this and this. Reality television telling us that we're not beautiful enough, exciting enough or skilled enough. I thought I'd design a shirt to express my opinion.

well I agree with you, but that television looks more pissed than evil. The antennae thing looks like devil horns though... pretty sweet

I would buy it if there was text.
I like it.
I support it.

I think it's cute and doesn't really get your point across. Would make a great kids tee.

blaming television for depression is a stretch.
television is only a tool
the content, now therein lies a problem.

That's an excellent point, shirtflirt, but hard to put on a shirt. I understand it's a little cutesy to truly illustrate the point, but I just wanted the idea there in a design that I'd like to wear. A subtle statement, but a fun design simultaneously.

I think this is it's own design. It doesn't look like this was copied from those other sources. I also don't think it needs any text. I like it.

Not exactly a new concept, but it's simple and to the point. I do agree that it looks more angry than evil, but what the hell. I probably wouldn't buy this shirt, but I'm sure I would wear it if it somehow found it's way into my wardrobe, if that makes any sense. As far as the text goes, I say leave it out. People don't need everything spoon-fed.

Loved the shirt until I read the rant. Oh, please. Save your reason for creating the shirt, wait until you turn 30, then read it again. Whince.

I like shirts with meaning behind them. I left the message off the shirt because I didn't want to push the message on people, but I thought people would be interested in knowing my reasons behind the design, so I posted them for those who were interested.

As for mackill's links, those are very interesting. I had no idea that others out there have used this idea on various websites.

Okay, if you leave the message off the shirt, I'll probaby buy it. But like all works of art, it can be interpreted differently by every viewer (or wearer). So if someone asks me what it means, I'll say the tv is pissed because it's not getting enough attention.

i would like the text on this one if that was the design. if no text...elaborate on the design. maybe incorporate the effect it has on people in it.

Cute shirt, great intent, but "evil" isn't apparent. If the antennas looked more like devil's horns, or screenshot was fiery/hellish the point would be a little clearer. Either way, I'd still buy it.
AliceChew
AliceChew on Mar 02 '07
The shirt is cute, I'd wear it. $5.

TV can be "evil", but can also be great. Unfortunately the programs/ads on it don't always have a positive effect. There's a lot of good things about it though.

yes yes KILL YOUR TV! It's a Weapon of Mass Distraction.

amen to the message but the design is lacking. too cartoony...

Blorgazz on Mar 03 '07
I just hate the clip art feel to it.

And about the message- The internet is just as evil as tv. Right now people are judging you, setting ridiculous standards, and making you feel bad about yourself. And they're doing it right in your face. If you feel that television is the decline of american culture, stay off the internet too.
