I create this design inspired by the theme..

"Animal Year"..

so as you can see, there`s a lot of animal that each represents the chinese astronomy "Shio".

And now 2007 is Pig`s Year.

so i put the pig above all the animals.

there`s a lot to explain, but the major idea is in my country Indonesia, this year, we had a disaster, we had a terrible rain season, Jakarta were drowned by flood.

so i draw that pig were cryin` and the tears creates a waterfall, and as you can see there`s a rat (that also represents one of the 12 Shio animals) in a middle of waterfall flow, the water flow through the rat, and that caused the water contain a desease.. (the issue in my country now, is many flood victims got Leptospirosis desease, caused by rat`s urine that carried all over the way by the flood).

And the desease represented by the venomous snake below (and snake is also represents the Shio).

That`s all...

Yeah the pig made me think of Mononoke too. It'd be great if we could see it bigger.

I'm usually not a fan of collage-looking designs, but this is done so beautifully!! You did a great job with the illustration... the only thing that bothers me is the area to the right of the rabbits... it feels like it needs something there (maybe another rabbit?) because everything else is so symmetrical. But that's nitpicking. Nice work and $5!

very nice! as a hint for next time try to put the design bigger and then the shirt position smaller in one corner, specially with detailed designs is a lot easier to judge them if tey are bigger. good job

i can appreciate your attempt to add symbolism and meaning that is specific to the situation in your country - - it's a little confusing since the Boar year indicates Water-related troubles, but it is also a Fire year - - and i'm not sure i like how Rat and Snake are singled out and related to disease (even if rats carry disease and snakes can be venomous, it doesn't give justice to the symbolism of the animals in the Zodiac) - i'm also not sure why the Ox is represented by a skull, and the Horse appears to be headless - - otherwise it looks good, but we tend to want a zoom or link to see more detail

I also like the concept and the drawings. Interesting take on the zodiac animals. I also agree with rudra though. Good job!

Reading your explanation, it totally makes sense, but at first glance, it looks like the pig's eyes are bleeding. With the headless horse, it looks like a big pile of carnage. I understand that this is the idea you were going for, but I don't think I'd want to wear it. It's very nicely rendered, though, and considering the idea behind it, it's actually quite beautiful. BTW-Hope things are looking up in your corner of the world. Sometimes we Americans forget how good we really have it.

why the horse is headless? i agree with annavos, it some kind a carnage expression.

i just draw it like that because that`s represent reality.

i mean the horse role in this reality life.

horse life is so suffered, they just a ride, they`ve been treated like an object by humans.

so when they`re headless, it`s not matter at all as long as humans can ride them, to go to their destination.

and i`m sorry i don`t know how to create a link so that you all can enjoy the details. so sorry.

and then for the skull, it was not an ox`s skull...

so sorry if i drew it more similar to an ox`s skull but it was a goat`s skull.

and goat is another animal symbol of the Shio.

why the goat is only in a skull form?

i drew it like that only for an esthetic factor, and because the goat skull is very popular, like it known as a gothic symbol...
