I'm french so I understand that we don't feel the same things about war and antimilitarism...

So I don't know if this design have "positive vibes"...

probably not.

But why factorys of war toys never make the civils?

Agreed, tell "enough with war" to GWB, yvanne66, not to this awesome sub! Definitely love it and ain't that the fucking truth, so many innocent people die in war. As a frenchman, I'm sure you're familiar with the atrocities in Algeria, Vietnam, at least before we got there and took over with the killing. And now Iraq. Humans disgust me.
yvanne66
yvanne66 on Feb 13 '07
hey robsol,

truth is what you make it!

everybody has the coice to stay away!

so, in my opinon I stay away by not feeding wars with energies directed towards it, which also includes to not purchase anything with a display of war scenes etc. I would not wear a shirt like this, sorry!

it's all in the mind, so wouldn't it be wise to truly check our choices of what we occupy our thoughts with, because thoughts become life's manifestation?

Thanks for your understanding robsoul.

Sorry yvanne66 but I think you have missed the point on this tee design, it is an anti war statement, in no way is it glorifying war.

Iraqi civilians do not have a choice to stay away when a US bomb blows up their children playing in the street. Do you know that US convoys cannot stop, if a kid runs infront of a truck, the driver has to run over him/her for the convoys own protection against ambushes. It's a documented fact. Want to watch this video, although I think this kid actually avoided the HUMVEE: http://break.com/index/humvee_driving_in_iraqi_traffic.html

Lastly, little boys grow up playing with these toys, playing with guns etc... all kids do it, I did it. But the reality of war is that many civilians die and that you'll never see civilians in a toy pack of army soldiers. Truth is based on facts and reality, not what you make it. I believe it's FOX news' job to make truth.

Robsoul
   Robsoul on Feb 14 '07
Here's a video of British troops beating the shit out of some kids for throwing stones: http://www.break.com/index/britishiraq12.html

Be sure to listen to the guy video taping, wow... sadistic pleasure, disgusting. How do you think those Iraqi kids are going to grow up, loving the allied forces or joining the militias dedicated to killing allied troops?

fatheed
   fatheed on Feb 14 '07
I don't think it's wise to judge the actions of men who are put in extreme conditions, from the comfort of your desk.
Robsoul
   Robsoul on Feb 14 '07
So it's alright to ignore their actions from the comfort of my desk? Right. Let the slaughter continue, fuck me for being appaulled by war.
fatheed
   fatheed on Feb 14 '07
Be appaulled by the political fuck-ups. People are dying on each side every day until the politicians sort the thing out. Normal men do stupid things in war. Sometimes it's out of fear, sometimes out of necessity. Sometimes this leads to acts of valour, and other times unfortunately, acts of shame. Thats war. Have beef with the politicians, not the soldiers. Write to your MP or Senator or whatever, go on an anti-war demo. It's useless posting links to videos of soldiers beating up civilians.
Robsoul
   Robsoul on Feb 14 '07
Those videos were for yvanne66 to look at because according to her, "truth is what you make it!" Well the truth is many civilians die during war. You're going off on another tangent (an obvious one because the politicians are the ones responsible for putting these men in these adverse situations) but not one directly related to this tee design, which depicts the atrocities of war committed by soldiers.

fatheed
   fatheed on Feb 14 '07
Okay. I figure this sub page isn't really the place for this kinda discussion in any case. Peace!
Robsoul
   Robsoul on Feb 14 '07
Why not? It's good to have a candid discussion about relevent issues. I love well designed political tees with a solid message. Infact, my one of my favorite T-less tees is this one, it's billiant imo: http://www.threadless.com/product/394/Lets_Quietly_Judge_Each_Other

In a way, I see these two designs as a pair, the politicians debate and corrupt while the soldiers are tried and sentenced as murders when they have been thrown into these terrible situations. And the civilians, well, they're dead.

fatheed,

Feel free to leave comments about a design's message

even if it deals with heavy issues. Since the message

of a design is as much a part of a design as its line

weight, placement on a shirt, the color scheme, etc...

Concerning the design,

Personally, I don't think the design presents a negative

or positive spin on the atrocities of war. It's just portraying

what happens in war and makes us realize that toy makers

don't include all the gory parts of war when selling their

products. So if I saw someone wearing this design I personally

wouldn't be able to tell if they were against or if they were

supporting the real world scene being portrayed by the

plastic figures. By putting the scene in plastic, it almost

leans toward humor. I have a feeling there's a better way

to express the concept behind the design ( the concept

being that toy companies avoid making products that

reveal the atrocities of war).

i've been reading 'the guns of august' about WWI and some of the terrible things done to civilians. this design is way too real for me to wear. tho there is an important message here to be conveyed, this doesn't quite work for me...
FRICKINAWESOME
   FRICKINAWESOME on Feb 16 '07
It's a cool concept, but is far too simply drawn for where it is drawing inspiration from. This design needs a whole nuther element to make the images flow together and more eye-catching. Good start tho..what does apy want to add on to this?

Makes me think of Kent State(not sure if that reference plays in France), which still gives an anti-war message but also a bit of dark comedy, which I'm all for. Either way, it's a great design.

I love it. Love. It. I agree that it's not positive or negative...it shows both what happens in war and how war has been glorified to children by giving them those sort of toys. It's real. Very nice job.
