It looks cool. If there has to be a meaning (there doesn't) the only thing I can think is that it is in reference to trying to reunite the 'Big Apple' (aka NYC) because of the enormous partisanship that has emerged as a result of the attacks and the Bush administration's response thereto.

$5

I like it. I wouldn't even need to understand it. It's beautiful.

the apple looks too much like a cat's bum =/

The apple looks exactly like an apple. Like all great art, (i think) this lends itself to interpretation... what I noticed is the angel writing a story, I think the text can be translated as "once upon a time" and the story is about mending. I appreciate the lack of cliche very much for the 911 subject matter. whew, this is the most I've ever written in a comment, sorry : )

1. Eye Pleasing--- Meh. (1/4)

2. Technical quality of line work--- It's, well... (1/2)

3. Uniqueness of submission---Extremely unique. (1)

4. Placement on t-shirt--- It's fine... (1 1/2)

5. No cliques (food with faces)--- Definitely none notable (2)

6. Nice Design Size--- Too awkwardly placed on shirt (2)

7. Nice Design Colors--- Meh. (2 1/4)

8. Nice Shirt Color--- Bland choices (2 1/4)

9. Took time to make--- I guess so... (2 1/2)

10. Do I like the design? I do not.

$--- Would I wear it? Not if it was given by my gf or if it was free.

Comments: No rational advice is really needed.

Oveall Score was 2 1/2 rounding up to a 3, although I'm not sure how you got that even...

I still don't understand how you're able to submit designs with over 5 colors. Is this a special case or something?

Anyways, besides that, I like the look of the shirt, but wish the artist would tell us the ideas behind the design.

ok people... there is a "big apple" with the flag on it to make its symbolism a little more obvious. There are people working together to pull the damaged and split "big apple" back together. The story is being told by a winged figure in the heavens representing (maybe) someone killed in 911 or perhaps just an angel. This was submitted to the Tribeca Film Festival (in New York with a theme of storytelling). While the 2 halves can be brought together, it will always be marred (the chunk taken out) No, it's not as obvious as a huge flag waving with an eagle and the towers falling... I think it's much better.

I said, "I wish the artist would tell us the ideas behind the design."

I already know what the design could very well mean... and, lauracake, your description of the symbolism is probably what licinho intended through this design, but it would be nice to hear it from the artist, because it is the artist himself that knows everything behind the ideas.

I agree with lauracake. I got the gist of it before seeing that it was submitted to the Tribeca Film Festiveal. That cleared up the storyteling part, which had me confused. $5

Does R. Rauschenberg has a logical explanation for all of his works?

Just enjoy as it is , it is very obvious that there is no hidden message behind this design.

Era Uma Vez...once upon a time
LucillatheHun
LucillatheHun on Feb 15 '07
How is that obvious, Pector?

Whatever the message may be, there's way too much going on in this design. Full colour vs monochrome, surfaces vs linework, unintelligible text, angel, stars...my eyes strain looking at it. A shame, because it's an interesting idea and you seem to have something to say! I'm sure you can say it in a simpler way: Try removing most of the background elements, or making the apples more stylized.

I'm still confused by the fact that there are at least 6 maybe 7 colors in this design that I count.
