About my design

by graffick
Ok I'll give it another go! An inspired piece that I had to put down on paper and onto t-shirts. Enjoy!

...that's the coolest zoom feature i've ever seen.

The only gradients seem to be on the shote parts of the body? That could be easily edited to fit Threadless's non-gradient style.

Like it a lot, very cool design.

The heads and chests have gradients. Still like the presentation thingy better than the design.

your flash presentation is annoying

graffick on Jan 19 '07
Just to respond to the critics the gradients will be halftoned out in photoshop and import it into a the vector program of choice. Once the halfones are rendered in Photoshop it will be converted over to a vector file in Streamliner. So no big whoop!

staffell - your honest opinion is appreciated but you have to give me a more detailed description of where your annoyance lies in the presentation.

threadless style is blah

thats the worst zoom ive ever seen. You tried to be trendy and clever and ended up making an overcomplicated and clunky interface that would have been better with the default flash interface that threadless does for you.

There's always one in a crowd. Please don't lecture to me and you don't see me criticizing your work "bananaphone" or do you want me to? I can do whatever I please with my presentation if you don't like it, well I can't win everyone with it, so deal with it.

^^ "There's always one in a crowd ... " ???

Of course you can do whatever presentation you like, just as we can have our own opions. I agree with bananaphone, the interface is a massive distraction. Some like it, some don't. " so deal with it."

it's pretty obvious where the annoyance lies...the scrolling is far too difficult to navigate, the zoom is pointless seems threadless can do that for you anyway.

i like the design and love the text style

people are just jealous and have nothing else to do but criticise someone else's zoom feature and whatever else on this site all day long.. freakin loser!

anyway, what the heck is "threadless style"? are you in a high school clique where you can't deal with people who aren't like you? stupid people...

yeah, so.. i really like your design :) it's inspiring...

How can you fit such a presentation in 120k??? great presentation, btw.

you've got skill as an illustrator, but your presentation is distracting from your design (which may or may not be a good thing). t-less' presentation focuses attention on the design, not what's showing it. you've shrunk your display window to add a mess of useless buttons and text along the bottom...you realize that says you care more about how it's presented than what is presented, right? the scroll is counter-intuitive and clunky.

the design itself is well rendered, gradients aside, but the idea just doesn't come through clearly. graf text is cool, but the hangup is most people can't read it, so it kinda kills its purpose. if you are gonna try to get a graf design printed here, you're gonna have to do something original with it, and this ain't it.

Your suggestions are constructive and the "graff" style as you call it IMO is meant to tap into the viewer's visual comprehension. I don't want to dumb down any of my stuff and if the illustration does not give you a clear message into the relation of the customized text well you don't understand the piece that's being said. Simply put the graphic that I submitted is close to the heart of my experience of being saved. So some people won't get it, they haven't reached that point in their lives. The interface design was to make it easy for people to visualize what the imprint is going to look like on the numerous colored shirts that Threadless provides and I'm just making it easier for people to do so. I will make every effort to improve but I will not be swayed by people who thinks their the authority of all Threadless.

I have an external link to the full capability of the presentaion above where the click and drag feature is present which was unfortunately disabled because of the click and drage feature present within the Threadless site. http://host326.ipowerweb.com/~graffick/threadless/GACThreadlessSalvation.html

There's always room for improvement and I'm hearing for people which I appreciate. Thanks!

nothing wrong with making a personal statement in your design, but it's still gotta be something people would want to wear, and your final score should tell you something about that. i don't play myself up as any authority on t-less, i was just trying to offer honest crits of what i think are the problems in your design and presentation. better luck next time
