I found this phrase amusing, and i think you should know it too. There are 2 posible designs. One with the background, and one without. Submitting it for the JOT 2.

People might hate on the rectangular style of the design but I'm diggin' it. One of the best JoT designs yet!

I like the type treatment and colours, but don't really see the connection between the message of the text and the image

ya this is vectorlicious. Usually rectangle stuff sux. But you got the whole branches breaking up the line thing and it looks pimp. 5

amoania, Here's where Wikipedia is a big help : Deus ex machina
|

OK, I love the idea of this on a shirt somehow, and agree with matthijs that the text itself is great, but it just doesn't connect to anything (including the image). sorry.

|
I actually really like the image and the text is awesome. I'm not a huge fan of white T-shirts though . . .

|
I love the picture, but not the text. I would probably buy it if it didn't have Deus Ex Machina on it.

this is sweet man really cool iso50 but ur own kinda style brought to it i would love me tshirts on threadless with some some typography like this!

Deus ex Machina is a literary device... Research on wikipedia if you don't know what it means...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deux_ex_machina |
|
Deus ex machina is a Latin phrase that is used to describe an unexpected, artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot (e.g., having the protagonist wake up and realize it was all a dream, or an angel suddenly appearing to solve problems). The phrase has been extended to refer to any resolution to a story which does not pay due regard to the story's internal logic and is so unlikely that it challenges suspension of disbelief, allowing the author to conclude the story with an unlikely, though more palatable, ending. In modern terms the deus ex machina has also come to describe a being, object or event that suddenly appears and solves a seemingly insoluble difficulty (e. g. the cavalry arriving).

hm. maybe it's just me, but i thought deus ex machina was a device used by the ancient greeks in theatre to fly people around the stage to seem like gods...
other than that I really like it. |

The combination of the type, nature sillhouettes & repeating geometric patterns is waaaay too Scott Hansen/ISO50 for my liking & I'm not sure theres enough interest in the design with type alone.
