actually the way you achieved a gradient look is rather original.

This is a masterpiece of the comtemporary art movement and deserves to be hung in the Guggenheim and imortalized for all of history.

as neato as the gradient is, it makes the saucer look very fuzzy. Dunno if it would ruin the style if you made the saucer's illustration match its laser beams in having a more definite outline.
