I like the art a lot, but the connection to film needs to be explicit for a festival shirt

I love the concept and for the most part, the execution is wonderful. The only thing I'm not so crazy about is the pattern on the dress and the cushions. They don't seem to really flow with the image. If they had some movement or folding or anything like real fabric, they'd be a lot better. I'd still buy this shirt as is, though, it really is fantastic despite what I said.

I think Disney might have a problem with using their images and titles; I like the concept though.

I'm in love with this shirt!!! I think the desgin is simple and very very powerful!!!! This is a must print shirt. the imagrey is there but still leaves some imagination to the viewer as to what picture goes with what story and what other images they can come up with on there own. As an owner of a personal 2 room library in my own home I can really relate to this girl since it is something I do as much as I can. This shirt is an easy $5, but I would pay the $19.99 at a store if I saw it there. Also to address the disney titles, they have been around way way longer than disney has .

I adore this shirt! Definitely my favorite thus far for the contest (even if it isn't film explicit). The couch design is pretty crazy and I wish the book titles weren't so plain, but I can live with that. 5$

The silhouettes are most definitely copyrighted characters, and the text on the books would probably be unreadable when screenprinted at that size. Just helping you out.

The stories are much older than Disney, but the images on the clouds are clearly the unaltered Disney ones. There are other fairy tales that would work just as well.

Redsugar, thanks for the elaboration. My problem wasn't with the "titles", but the titles do become Disney property when you use their images linked to those titles.

I like the design, but I think the patterned sections flatten it and distract. They seem disconnected from the image.

I like it, but fix the couch because it looks like it's kinda "floating" without the legs.

jwalsh on Jan 11 '07 Thanks everyone! Well I have no idea if using little silouettes is in violation I just drew them instead of a fake book so the idea would go across much quicker, but they can definitly be changed if thats the case.

Since those fairy tales have been around for centuries and you didn't use the Disney designed script for them you should be fine copyright wise. The silouettes of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast are obviously the Disney version and they actively defend their copyrights, so you should alter those or get permission to use them. I love the idea as a whole and would buy the shirt as is... but I'd like it a lot better if the pattern on the dress was different. It reminds me of an extremely unattractive dress my mother used to have ;)

unfortunately, disney is definitely not going to give you permission to use their images on something you might make a profit on. i suggest just simply drawing your own images.
i still love the idea, and i really like the whole style of the piece, actually. (i definitely wouldn't worry about the titles, though - i don't think the grimms brothers will be coming after you anytime soon.) |

i find the dense fabric pattern a bit dizzy... otherwise great design!

because the pillow matches the pattern on the couch, it looks like there's just a square hole in the blanket. makes it confusing and ambiguous if take a chance to really look at it.
