About my design

by MysDik
My first go at a design - I got the idea (for the style rather than this particular image) from the illustrations in the Dickens books I have been reading lately and thought I would try it out. Comments incredibly welcome as I am still very much a learner!

Love it, I really do! My only little suggestion is that the faces look a little squished and fat and would probably look a lot better (and more elegant) if they were elongated a bit. Otherwise it's stunning!

Lovely, I rather like it, old chap, but I'll have to say hair highlights and shirts should not be clear on a blue shirt. Ha, ha! Cheerio!

i like the colors and lines but the characters do looked squished.

how does this really relate to the film festival?

Thanks everyone for the feedback - I guess they do look a bit squat, I will play around with the image and see how it looks if I elongate them a little. Also pointless_piggy, I take your point about the denim - perhaps on that colour I might have the skin, shirt and hair highlights all a slightly lighter version of the flesh tone I have used on the original design, pretty much like the threadless natural colour... and bomia, as the Tribeca designs are themed around 'passion through storytelling' I thought an image I had based on illustrations from Victorian novels, depicting a love scene, loosely fitted in with that. It's not very NYC I know but as I understood it an interpretation of the theme rather than the specific event was OK? I may be wrong!

I love this design! Love, love, love! Have you seen the illustrations in some of the old Austen books? That's what this design reminded me of. I would totally wear this.

I like her face but his looks a bit . . . wrong somehow.

I got the mid-1800's British style right away. Great stuff. Fix his head & I'd buy it!

If the Dickens book you're referring to is Great Expectations, I don't think your design makes sense from the book. Pip and Estella were never really together so I don't know why the two characters are looking so fond of each other.

?! When I said I took the inspiration for the style from the Dickens books I have been reading I didn't mean 'this is an illustration of Pip and Estella's relationship'. Actually I've most been reading Little Dorrit and Bleak House (for what it's worth) but this isn't intended to illustrate a scene from Dickens. It's just a picture of a Victorian couple in the kind of style I've seen used to illustrate Victorian novels. Ah well, I'm overreacting, most people seem to have understood! Seemed like quite a random comment though!

I uderstand this to be any couple from a Dickens story (Bleak House is my favorit, btw). Adorable.
