I also agree that the design would be stronger without the "will save the world" text. I like the ambiguity of simply stating "Modern Science". This design has a 1940's Max Fleischer Superman quality to it, which is to say, very nice!

travis76 on Dec 29 '06 thanks for the comments- alot of people have issue with the diagonal text, or the spacing, or both, but it's really inspired by alot of old german and russian posters- trust me! however, if i get enough positive constructive feedback, i'll rework the words (or...sigh...eliminate) as YOU the voters decide! (if of course, they let me- in the event of, well, you know.)

Actually, I retract what I said earlier about removing the text.. The angle/style does work.. But do reword it. Either something less obvious, or perhaps a pastiche of Nazi/Soviet propaganda?

This design gives me hope that people are still submitting quality, thoughtful designs to Threadless. Personally, in regard to the diagonal text, I would make it a tad bit smaller and angle it to match the yellow behind it. Or something. I dunno. But 5.

I kinda have a problem with the skeletons in the bottom as well. They don't seem to fit the style with the straight lines the rest of the illustration has. KEEP THE TEXT!!! It's the whole point of the shirt and it wouldn't be understood without it. I like the colors and jagged style of the scientist. I want this shirt!

I am agreeing with the comments about reworking the text. Can't decide if you need the subhead. I would say that "modern" shouldn't be tilted but instead rest above the word science horizontally, though I hate the font that "modern" but oh well that is just me. Anyhoo without being too long-winded I think your two styles are fighting one another but it's close!! I'm content with the illustration elements.. they are hot. Now, this could be printed as is and still be great, but with fixing up the type it could be AWESOME. =] happy new year

hogboy's right, the shirt is perfect except that it feels weird it cuts off all straightlined on the bottom (I understand this would make full sense if it WAS on a poster), maybe just extend the scientist's cloak a bit below the skeletons and it would feel 'right'... really love the simple and smart decision to use the vial as the I in science, looks great, good work, 5

just mixing stuff I like in a retro poster style.
my closing thought is that i may put something in the upper right.... a retro-futuristic plane dropping a trail of bombs into the lower picture. other than that, this is one of my personal faves. the scientist and font are pure propaganda poster, just how i like it. no glo inks- it just looks that way.
