About my design

by dacat
Detail:

DARK GRAY (Large) and

NATURAL (Large)

Placement Options:

Wrapped-Lower! and

Grey-Chest

Based on the idea that the Decemberist song "The Island" is a retelling of "The Tempest". This design is depicting a scene where the spirit Ariel

stirs up a storm to strand the sailors onto the Island. Miranda watches in sadness while the man-beast Caliban (Sycorax's child) waits to abduct

her. I didn't depict Prospero, Miranda's father, who should probably be in this, since I thought Caliban was more interesting to show. Oh, and there's a crane in there, just because it's such a theme in the album.

Please Comment and Vote ($5 if you like it)!

Gorgeous details! I think if Edward Gorey and Tim Burton had a child, it would be this. $5.

Wow. Gorgeous. I really hope you can get this resubbed under the contest, because I love this. I really like it on natural, but I think the grey works better for the stormy sky. Either way, five and buy!

too clean. that contest (which this isn't in) seems to call for a more hand drawn feel.

nice design, though it would be better as a drawing or painting or etchasketch...etchasketch... now that would be impressive.

Ah, I always wondered where your avatar came from! This is beautiful - what an amazing, intricate style you have. I'm a fan of the Decemberists and "The Tempest" - it's really disappointing this was never printed.

Thanks Terry, it's been like a whole year since anyone commented on this one, ha! You should sub your "gentlesnowman", I think that'll do really well!

this didn't get printed? Really?

It's such a nice flow of colors, and a good hierchy of detail...you can tell some thought was put in it. As a matter of fact, I notice that a bit in a good deal of your designs....

is there any way to add someone to a 'favorites' listing of some sort? I want to keep an eye out for your designs.
