mezo on Dec 27 '06 MAN! A man in the shell idea? That is brilliant! The inner wallpaper of it is gorgeous, too. I know the lady in the boat on the outside of the desing is probably relevant to the song, but I don't like it with the main design....it makes it off balance. But the shell & man alone? That's a 5'er.

i once read a story about an artist who felt that, for every beautiful work he created, he must destroy another thing of equal beauty to ensure balance in the world. you must have had to murder a fairy princess after designing this. nice.

cbuchholz on Dec 31 '06 Hogboy and Mezo both brought out that they think it looks off balance. I respect their opinions alot because they're both incredible artists, but after thinking about it, I just don't think I'd be happy with the shell and only the man. I think you'd lose half of the concept, and the more interesting half at that. Does anybody else see balance issues?

jrmasm on Dec 31 '06 my .$02 is that the bottom of the shell(lower right) balances out the woman leaving (upper left), with the red room being the focal point. I think you definetly need the woman leaving.

I know I'm late, but I just wanted to say I think is so incredibly beautiful. The Decemberists is my favorite band in the world and this hits the nail on the head. Why, oh why wasn't this printed!?

i could see why someone may think it off balance. it's the colour placement. there is no red in the larger blue area but there is blue in the larger red area.
technically. .. quite nice. the rendering is remarkable. i'm not familiar with the decemberists, but many people keep telling me i'd like them. so i can't account for the subject matter. altogether. . . well. . .i would have scored it well. but alas i look up and scoring is finished. good job chris. |

igo2cairo on Feb 17 '08 This is cool, to happen upon this so many days later, a beautiful sea-shell lost in the sands. This was before I was even on Threadless. What an awesome design and concept! Sad this was never printed. :(
