It's a neat concept, but the black and white animals seem pasted on, and the colors aren't very attractive. The water looks like blood.

maybe because you have the in-color animals paired with a water reflection, you add ground shadow to the b&w animals. they wouldn't look so pasted on because they would be on the same plane.

Well I'm no design major, I just think this is awesome. I didn't get it, however, until I read the comments, because I didn't immediately see that all the brown animals were in the middle and all the black-white ones were outside. I think I didn't notice the divide because the brown ones blend into the background. If you switched them (i.e. had the black/white animals as the ones in the center) then their unity would be more obvious since they stand out more, and that would illustrate the concept more clearly. If that made any sense at all. Wicked drawing, and wicked idea!

FRICKINAWESOME on Dec 16 '06 It's a funny concept, but i didnt get the concept at all until reading your description, and that's bad when i dont get these jokes right away b/c im superconceptman!!! Maybe if you have the animals in the pond kicking a little water back on perhaps the penguin with it shielding its eyes, maybe even having one of the animals raising up its paw as if to say you can't come in here, and so forth. It needs a little bit more to really bring the concept home. Nice job still. 3.

The animals look like they're all made of different styles. Oh, and maybe you should make the background color a little lighter- right now it makes the white look really harsh.

Great idea. The dark t color is perfect to help pop out the black and white animals. The contrasts are important.

Oooh it's a racism thing... At first because it looks like blood I assumed it was a vegetarian statement (as in the animals are eating your chest).
I just noticed that some of the animals are paired with closely related black and white species (horse/zebra, cow/cow, tiger/white tiger, bear/panda). I assume you did that on purpose, but the random animals make it hard to notice. If you did that consistently it could make the shirt really interesting. |

Love the illustration and the water, but i'd play down the pig's pink shadow, it stands out too much.
