The design is awesome, but do you have permission from rstevens and Diesel Sweeties?

this one is sweet, but if it's stolen from someone else that's not cool...

the design itself isnt stolen, i drew it all. Its still simply the concept of red robot.

also, is infact permission is needed i would surely ask R. Stevens

I would surely ask Cat Stevens. The yellow could be the shirt colour showing through. nice though, however the mention of it being lifted is bad publicity.

i like it on gray. very nice.

Well, I would imagine he would have to OK it, considering he has his own line of Diesel Sweeties Red Robot shirts... Its very cool, and completely your own illustration, but it is his character, his copyright. I would send him an email if I was you...

yeah I thought the exploading dog dude game up with the red robot

love the concept but I'd be happier about it if you had their OK since they do sell red robot shirts

looks good on grey, but yellow could save you an ink colour and still look good

i read all of those diesel sweeties cartoons and never did i see or read anything referring to this piece i think it sux that someone thinks they have control over a red box with yellow circles. Resist, if you thought you could change the eye color you could prob get all this copyright carp out of the way. makes me think i wasted all those empty boxes as a kid making houses and cars very admirable.

Seriously I would just fire off an email and see what they say... it's an awesome design, I would buy it, but I don't think it will get printed without their O.K.

I like it best on a grey or kakhi shirt. Little love robot box, that's cute. I don't quite know what to make of it, but . . . . it's a nice design . . . I think I'll give it a 4

This is not about someone making a Microsoft or McDonalds ripoff shirt. This is about an independant web comic, which barely stays afloat by selling a few t-shirts. If you came up with a cool character that became very popular, would you want people blatantly copying it?

Red Robot #C-63 is a pile of mechanical parts set on human destruction (very admirable). Never in the storyline is he represented as some sort of box come to life pinnochio fairy tale. The design is awesome and deserves printing. This argument seems to be more over color resemblance. Do I need to clear my own use of yellow circles and red boxes with Mr. Stevens from now on? Because I won't. Resist should swap the colors; yellow with red eyes and the Red Robot Rip-Off Scandal will die. This design is killer and goes way beoynd the self-indulgent characters of Diesel Sweeties. Besides anyone who openly states "Jesus helps me trick people" shouldn't mind.

in-fucking-deed.

note: i'll try swapping colors/using my own color combinations in the case, considering i'm bored off my ass.

thanks for commenting/voting so far.

Indeed Red Robot is Sam Brown's character from the popular Exploding Dog illustrations. R. Stevens and Sam Brown are in cahoots on many things and C-63 is more or less a crossover character.

I like the design alot, it reminds me of the robots I used to build in my garage in grade-school.

A great design. I hope there aren't any issues with it and this gets printed. Excellent excellent work.

wow, that's "familiar"

it's a pretty creative design, but a little close to the mark for my tastes. ;)

I had a Halloween costume that looked just like that once...

The paint buckets, handprints and scissors on the right really make this design. I'd pull em all back a little bit and spread em out just a little to accentuate them. Excellent design...interesting, different, and even a little cute. A seller for sure.

Check out the footnote at http://www.explodingdog.com/redrobot.html -- I believe this would fall within its permissible uses of the Red Robot.

I'd buy it. I don't like exploding dog, and I'd never heard of diesel sweeties until I read this, but it looks pretty lame. so who cares! just change the colors. I love it regardless and will buy it.
