Thanks for regularly submitting more shirts worthy of being printed that use a shirt's area for more than displaying your work on. As purty as this is to look at, i feel it needs a bit more "simpson"-esque touch to what is below ground (you know, when they pan from downstairs to upstairs and there is different kinds of craziness in the floorboards every time?!?!). Still a 4 and buy. But first the snowflake one. Oh, the snowflake design.....

i like this design. i think it might be better with a little less dirt/rock clutter in the bottom, more random odd in the ground things, and if the nugget were maybe slightly larger with a little detail and no printed 'this is shiny' lines. i think the metallic gold in contrast to all the dull ground clutter is enough to set the nugget apart from the rest of the junk. also don't think it needs the gold or bust text, but it doesn't bother me too much.
btw, snowflake factory design got 3.63 out of 5, i bet it gets printed =D |

Great design, great concept and colors, in sum, you're a great artist! I have seen your other work (don't know why i didn't see it before, and I was completely amazed of your skills, those are beautiful illustrations, man. This being said I thought they where a bit too busy for a shirt, they looked more like something you'd find in book. But, this one, oh, this one MUST be in a shirt!

i will buy this shirt just for the toilet seat. but it's still generally fantastic without the toilet seat. the toilet seat is just what sold me on it personally. i did a double-take, and had to read your comment to find out for sure, but i'm totally all about the toilet seat.

Nice concept, only problem is that it reminds me of gift shop t-shirts, you know the ones with "VISIT OUR STATE, IT'S HISTORIC!" I do like the way you did it though, 4

I really like your idea, but it really bothers me that all but ONE item (the generic "indian hatchet") is Euro-American in origin. It kind of implies that the Euro-Americans were there forever and the Native Americans were just passing through. I am a bit sensitive because I know that the history of many gold rushes coincide with illegally breaking treaties with Indians, or if it was more convenient, re-locating or just plain murdering them. I know that this is meant to be light hearted, and I think you have a good sense of humor. I just wanted to remind you of a few truths that are often left out of American history.

cbuchholz on Dec 01 '06 I was thinking about bluestocking's comment and I still agree, but perhaps look at it this way; the indians were much more environmentally conscious than the early Americans, thus the reason for less of their "junk" in the ground. I still agree that what you said makes sense if you look at this from a historical perspective, but I was illustrating this merely to show the frivolous nature of these gold rushes.

I like everything about this design except the lines above the sky, also bluestocking I think you are being a bit to literal. Yes the Native Americans were treated terribly...but clearly the designer is portraying the spirit of the Gold Rush and not disrespecting the Native American Indians by what lies in the ground. Keep up the amazing work cbuchholz and an early congrats on the No Repeats print. $5

So flippin' cool. Second design I've seen this evening with a single tiny gold element, but this one is just so well-designed... and the colors are great. Toilet seat is a nice touch. 5$

I know political correctness is annoying, especially when the idea is really fun. I didn't write that comment to make people annoyed, I wrote it because I wanted people to be aware of the messages we send sub-consciously. Designers are communicaters after all. Personally, I really enjoy the idea of design, even if I do interpret it differently. I also appreciate that cbuchholes addressed my concerns. Thank you!
