ok this is a bit racist and i'll tell you why. the "black sheep" of the family is an outcast, someone who isnt as liked as the rest, someone who stands out-generally being the black sheep has negative connotations, and youre making the outcast "black" as in african american? and in your description you say its about "feeling different" why should someone who is black feel different? plus the 'bling bling" thing is flat out corny. this is just a white kids idea of what black people are.

And being the black sheep don't usualy come with a negative side, it's just an expression. And this ain't racist for me caus' it's cute, I didn't want to do a debate on the subject with this design. I've already post it on deviant art and I've never heard the word "racist". So I'm kinda bit of surprise that people thought that here.
And this is just a white kids idea of what black people are. Next time I'll see an american joke about canadian wearing fur hats, beaver and all that stuff, should I feel threadtened? I just don't see how I could offend black people with this one... they're nothing saying that they are not good people and all that stuff! It's just a cute illustration about feeling different. And the black sheep in this illustration is the coolest one! |

what's the problem all??! I so don't beleive for a minute that anyone here have ever said any joke that could sound racist!! I soooo don't beleive that! Anyway, juste a little explanation..maybe it's the reason why it's not everybody who understand: I don't think that in english and in french we have the same definition for the expression "black sheep". In french it's not necessairly negative..it's more like a way to say that someone is more original than the others. And you know what? If I was the black sheep on that Illustration, I'd be proud! I feel myself more like him even if i'm not black, don't have a comb in my hair or even a bling bling! Anyway...just like that...if it was a boy and a girl on this illustration, would it be sexist? It's the same thing! Black people are different because even 2 white people are. WE ALL ARE! Anyway, keep up the good work cousin! Proud of you!!! Love ya!

ok, so unless this designer is Adrian Ramos, the "artist" has totally ripped off these sheep from the "count your sheep" cartoon. I'm sick of people stealing other people's ideas. Be original for crying out loud!

Recycledwax on Dec 07 '06 Never heard of it, i've search for them and if you use your eye you could see that they have legs and arm attatch to them body, different face etc... before saying that people copy stuff you might at first look closer and then try to do stuff of you're own too caus' i see nothing in you're gallery. And it's sheep!!! One day or another they will look the same, a sheep is a sheep! But thanx, I've search for Adrian Ramos and he's doing great stuff, so in a sort of way I'm glad you tried to compare me to him.

Jeez, some people here are just too f***ing anal & obsessed with being 100% PC. Did we learn nothing from that South Park episode where they debated about changing the town flag? I never thought there was anything racist about this! When I look at it, all I see is a cute & funny pic with a positive message about being different! 5$ all the way! ^_^

The connotation behind 'black sheep' is clearly negative; it's a term coined in reference to things which stick out like a sore thumb, things that are undesirable... making the black sheep resemble a black PERSON is, undeniably, playing with very dangerous territory.
Don't be so quick to say it isn't racist- if so many people here think it carries a negative or bigoted message, chances are, so will people who see it on you in PERSON. For that alone, I wouldn't wear it. Nice work on the image itself, but damn. |

as a black person i find this shirt racist. i understand the "black sheep" concept of being different, but why does the sheep have to have a 'fro and some bling? Why can't he have a mohawk and some freaky piercings? That's not cool. If I saw anybody with that on, I'd rip them a new one. Have a sense of humor? I have one, but this isn't funny or cute. White peeps luv telling us to "lighten up". Tell me exactly what u mean by "lighten up"??
