Ah yes, America a land of fast food everywhere you look, even on the flag? In this case- yes. I took the American Flag and made it something we all can relate to; a grill and a deep fryer. The bars of the flag represent the metal grates of the grill complete with burgers, and the stars are represented by a frialator, with little french-fry stars inside. There are 3 shirt color selections; Khaki, Brown, and Light Blue. I personally think Khaki looks the best, but added the others because I figured everyone likes variety. Thanks for looking!

When I first saw it I thought of a radio. Maybe put some charcoals, spatula, or whatever to make it more obvious.

Yeah, I thought is a radio too, but great concept still.

the contest for Fast Food Nation is about America's diet being so fattening; thus the only flag that would make sense would the the USA's. I, too, thought it was a radio, but now that I realize it's a grill, this is very cleverly designed. Perhaps add more hamburgers and a couple of hotdogs? Maybe some fries in that deep fryer thing where the stars are.

i didn't know what it was at first, and I think it was because of the lack of definition. limited colors are hurting this potentially good design. but i like the creativity and the idea. $5

Wow thanks for all the positive feedback. Ya I was going to spend a few more hours trying to make it more detailed, but then I remembered that little phrase "Keep it simple stupid". So I decided to stop.

Its only weakness is the difficulty identifying what the sizzlin' bars are. Sometimes I am seeing the hamburgers as holes in flag. This is especially a problem for the bottom hamburger when the background color is brown. I think if you rotated the bottom one's grill marks with respect to the flag's grill, it would help. Also, I think if you placed the thicker black edge line to the bottom right of the burger (like you have for the top burger), it would help to eliminate the optical illusion. I'm less certain about the following suggestion, but when fast food hamburgers are made they usually aren't haphazardly placed on the grill . . . they are lined up in rows. Perhaps having two rows of burgers (one with two and another with three), it might help with people identifying what the shirt is supposed to be.

Ya the black on the burgers can either be for perspective, or to illustrate them burning, I was trying to do both but I can see what you are saying Actuity. And the little brown pieces under the grill is suppose to be bits of hamburger, those bloody things never stay in one piece when you cook them on a grill! And I can see what you are saying about the rows of burgers, I thought of that but when I tried it, it covered it too much to identify the grill as the US flag. Thanks for the 5!

I was trying to think of a good way to use the US flag for this contest... you did it!

This is an EXCELLENT design. I also had trouble figuring out what it was at first, until I read the title. The burgers do kind of look like holes..Maybe if you showed it from a slight slanted angle; intead of being entirely on top, maybe view it fromslight back and down, so it's slanted? Does that make sense? *sigh*

I think if this is printed on a shirt (hope hope hope) and people saw it approaching them, this would be easily recognizable as the american flag. I think this is an outrageously awesome idea for the contest, but would suggest putting it much larger on the shirt, perhaps use some outlines that fade away to protray more of the fast food table this is a part of (kind of like what Glennz did for his aircraft carrier desk submission), and perhaps put several burgers in two rows on the flag, giving it more of an impression of stripes that you are going for. Also, maybe you could add a blue-ish hint underneath these rows of burgers signiftying the fat oozing out of them to complete the flag look? Hopefully these ideas help ,cause i wanna see this one win the contest BAD! good luck.
