But I was particularly impressed with the Art Around Us project. Its an online web-app that allows users to map out local art, in whatever form. Street art, galleries, murals, etc.

Currently, this project is only in D.C, but I met with the people behind the project, and they are desperately trying to expand this app and make it nation-wide. I think this is a great example of how technology and art can be combined to create exposure for artists. The beauty is that, while this resides online, it still gives the user the information of how they can experience the art (in whatever form) first hand, tangibly.

What are some major challenges you have getting exposure as an artist?

Would you find a website that was dedicated to getting your projects seen helpful? Maybe one that matched artists with gallery owners or people with space, other resources? Or maybe something like that exists, and I don't know about it.

What would you like to see from a website that provided services like that?

Myself and some friends from business school are developing a business plan for a non-profit organization. The thought is that the best ideas are born out of collaboration. So we are going currently developing a platform where innovative thinkers can meet and search for passionate doers, so they can collaborate on ideas to improve society, or to provide society with an innovative solution to a problem, whether that problem be at the local, state, county, or world wide level.

So I thought I'd tap my Threadless friends for some information. Have you guys, during your wild forays into vast abyss that is the internet, come across any interesting websites whose main focus is to foster the collaborative process? OR anything that might be relevant to the cause?
