I wanted this to be a fun design that anyone could wear, young or younger, and wanted to draw it in a way that makes us discover new things each time we look at it.
This took many hours of work on the computer to get it
the way it is now. The actual hand-drawing of it was the
fun part because as I drew it one thing just lead to another as new characters and shapes evolved into other things.
Much of my inspiration comes from the artworks of Peter Max, M.C. Escher and Picasso.

This idea came to me when staring up at the leaves of a huge maple tree in my backyard. If you look long enough you start to see things like faces, hands, creatures etc. formed by the leaves and branches or within the negative spaces where the sky shines through. And it's all inter-connected within the totality of the tree.
You can look at one object then realize that what you are seeing is actually something else, or a part of something different.
I think the greatest pleasure I get from the creative process of drawing is when it's spontaneous and unpredictable from the onset of the pencil touching the paper. It's the mystery of the expansiveness of imagination and the resulting surprises that attracts me to drawing.
He said it best....
“I begin with an idea and then it becomes something else.” ~ Pablo Picasso
